EMI Music Italy has released a soundtrack album for the Italian comedy drama The Great Beauty (La Grande Bellezza). The album features selections from the film’s original score by Lele Marchitelli, as well as other music from the movie, including classical pieces by Kronos Quartet, John Tavener,  Zbigniew Preisner, Georges Bizet and Henryk Gorecki. The 2-disc soundtrack is now available overseas. No word yet on a domestic release. The Great Beauty is co-written and directed by Paolo Sorrentino (This Must Be the PlaceIl Divo) and stars Toni Servillo, Carlo Verdone, Sabrina Ferilli, Roberto Herlitzka and Isabella Ferrari. the-fostersAlec Puro is scoring the new ABC Family drama The Fosters. The show is created by Bradley Bredeweg and Peter Paige and stars Teri Polo, Sherri Saum, Jake T. Austin, Hayden Byerly, David Lambert, Maia Mitchell, Danny Nucci and Cierra Ramirez. The series follows a multi-ethnic family mix of foster and biological kids who are being raised by two moms. Jennifer Lopez serves as an executive producer alongside Bredeweg & Paige, as well as Joanna Johnson (Hope & Faith), Elaine Goldsmith Thomas (Maid in Manhattan, Mona Lisa Smile), Benny Medina and Greg Gugliotta. Three new movies are opening nationwide this holiday weekend:

fast-and-furious-6Expected to top the weekend box office is the action sequel Fast & Furious 6 directed by Justin Lin and starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Luke Evans, Gina Carano and John Ortiz. Def Jam Recordings has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs featured in the film by artists including 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa, T.I., deadmau5 feat. Cypress Hills and and Ludacris feat. Da Vinci's DemonsSparks & Shadows will release a soundtrack album for the Starz original series Da Vinci’s Demons. The album features selections from the original score from the show’s first season composed by Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles). The soundtrack includes more than 90 minutes of music and will be released digitally on May 28, 2013. A 2-CD collector’s edition will be released later this year. Audio clips will be added to this article within the next couple of days. The label has previously released the composer’s main titles theme from the show. Da Vinci’s Demons created by David S. Goyer and starring Tom Riley, Laura Haddock, Lucrezia Donati, Elliot Cowan, Lorenzo Medici and Lara Pulver currently airs Friday nights on Starz with the season finale scheduled to premiere on June 7. walking-with-dinosaursDavid Hirschfelder is composing the score for the upcoming family action adventure Walking with Dinosaurs 3D. The film is directed by Neil Nightingale & Barry Cook (MulanArthur Christmas) and follows two brothers looking to follow in their father’s footsteps, which leads them to a showdown with dinosaurs in the Arctic. Charlie Rowe has been cast in one of the leading roles. John Collee (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, Happy Feet) and Theodore Thomas wrote the screenplay and Mike Devlin, Amanda Hill and Deepak Nayar (Bend It Like BeckhamLost Highway) are producing the BBC Earth, Evergreen Films and Reliance Big Entertainment production. The Attack is directed by Ziad Doueiri (West Beirut, Lila Says) and stars Ali Suliman and Reymonde Amsellem. The movie is based on the best-selling book by Yasmina Khadra and follows a Palestinian doctor who discovers uncomfortable truths about his wife following a suicide bombing. top-of-the-lakeSee-Saw Films has released a soundtrack album for BBC’s and the Sundance Channel’s mini-series Top of the Lake. The album features the original score from the seven-part series composed by Mark Bradshaw (Bright Star). Also included are songs by Howlin’ Wolf, Smokie, Straitjacket Fits, Georgi Kay and Split Enz. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Audio clips are available after the jump. Top of the Lake is helmed by Academy Award-winning director Jane Campion (The Piano) and Garth Davis and stars Elisabeth Moss, Holly Hunter, Peter Mullan and David Wenham. The drama is set in New Zealand and follows the disappearance of a five-months pregnant 12-year-old girl who was last seen standing chest-deep in a frozen lake. The album features the film’s original score composed by post-rock instrumentalists Explosions in the Sky (Friday Night Lights) and David Wingo (Mud, Take Shelter) who has previously collaborated with the director on such films as The Sitter, All the Real Girls and George Washington. Dario Marianelli is currently scoring the upcoming drama A Long Way Down. The film based on the novel by Nick Hornby (About a Boy, High Fidelity) marks the English language directing debut of French filmmaker Pascal Chaumeil. Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette, Aaron Paul, Rosamund Pike, Sam Neill and Imogen Poots are starring in the movie, which follows four strangers who meet on New Year’s Eve on the top of a London skyscraper, who each had intended to jump off but make a pact to stay alive and help each other. Jack Thorne adapted the material for the screen. Finola Dwyer (An Education) and Amanda Posey (Fever Pitch) are producing the project for Wildgaze Films. Read the rest of this entry »

The album features the film’s original score composed by Michael Wandmacher (Piranha 3D, Drive Angry, My Bloody Valentine). The Last Exorcism: Part II is directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly and stars Ashley Bell, Julia Garner, Spencer Treat Clark, Muse Watson and Louis Herthum. The horror film continues where the first part (scored by Nathan Barr) left off, as Nell Sweetzer is found alone and terrified in the woods.
