Nicholas Hooper has signed on to score the upcoming BBC three part drama The Escape Artist. The legal thriller is created and written by David Wolstencroft (Spooks, Shooting Dogs) and stars David Tennant, Toby Kebbell, Sophie Okonedo and Ashley Jensen. The mini-series follows a talented junior barrister who specializes in spiriting people out of tight legal corners. When his talents acquit the prime suspect in a horrific murder trial, that brilliance comes back to bite him with unexpected results. Brian Welsh (Black Mirror, In Our Name) is directing the show and Hilary Bevan Jones (State Of Play, Pirate Radio) and Paul Frift (Restless) are producing the project. ‘Dexter’ Season 7 Soundtrack Details

Milan Records will release a new soundtrack for the Showtime hit series Dexter. The album features selections from the seventh season’s original score composed by Daniel Licht. Also included is Rolfe Kent’s main title theme, as well as a selection of Latin tracks from season 7 by artists including The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Patato, Latin Soul Syndicate, Kluba and Joao Gilberto. The soundtrack will be released on August 20, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The seventh season of Dexter starring Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Lauren Velez, David Zayas and James Remar has been released on Blu-Ray and DVD this past May and the eighth and final season currently airs every Sunday night on Showtime. Last week, Manuel Riveiro has recorded his score for the upcoming horror thriller The Green Inferno. The film is directed by Eli Roth and stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Aaron Burns, Magda Apanowicz and Sky Ferreria. The movie is said to be a homage to the Italian cannibal movies of the late 70s and early 80s and follows a naive group of student activists from New York City who travel to the remote jungles of Peru, where they plan to stage a protest, but instead encounter a tribe of cannibals. Roth has co-written the screenplay with Guillermo Amoedo and is also producing the project with Christopher Woodrow & Molly Conners (The Immigrant, Devil’s Knot) for Worldview Entertainment, as well as Miguel Asensio Llamas & Nicolás Lopez for Sobras International. The details of the soundtrack album for the indie drama Ain’t Them Bodies Saints have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music score composed by Daniel Hart. Also included are songs by Curtis Heath, Andrew Tinker, Annell Brodeur, Greg Schroeder & Mara Lee Miller and Aaron Kyle. Two new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the action comedy 2 Guns directed by Baltasar Kormákur and starring Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg, Paula Patton, Bill Paxton, Fred Ward, James Marsden and Edward James Olmos. The film’s original score is composed by Clinton Shorter (District 9, Contraband). Already in theaters since Wednesday is the hybrid live action/animated family movie The Smurfs 2 directed by Raja Gosnell and starring Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara, Hank Azaria and Brendan Gleeson. The Newton Brothers are scoring the upcoming crime thriller Life of Crime. The film is directed by Daniel Schechter (Supporting Characters) and stars Jennifer Aniston, John Hawkes, Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def), Isla Fisher, Will Forte, Mark Boone Junior and Tim Robbins. The film based on the novel The Switch by Elmore Leonard (Out of Sight, Get Shorty) serves as a prequel to Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown with Hawkes and Bey playing younger versions of Robert De Niro and Samuel L. Jackson’s characters Louis Gara and Ordell Robbie. The comedy follows the duo as they plan to kidnap a corrupt real estate developer’s wife.
