Soundtrack for ABC’s ‘Scandal’ Announced

scandalStax Records will release a soundtrack album for the ABC hit drama Scandal. The album, entitled Songs from Scandal: Music for Gladiators, includes songs from the 70s featured in the first two seasons of the show by artists including Edwin Starr, Johnny Nash, KC and The Sunshine Band, Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell, Nina Simone, Sly & The Family Stone and Rufus & Chaka Khan. The soundtrack will be released on September 3, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Scandal created by Shonda Rhimes stars Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope,  a former media relations consultant to the President who left the White House to open her own firm, hoping to start a new career and a new personal life. Columbus Short, Guillermo Diaz, Darby Stanchfield, Katie Lowes, Tony Goldwyn, Jeff Perry, Bellamy Young and Joshua Malina. girl-most-likelyVarese Sarabande Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the comedy drama Girl Most Likely. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rob Simonsen (The Way Way Back, The Spectacular Now, 500 Days of Summer). The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 13, 2013. Audio clips will be added to this article next week. Girl Most Likely (aka Imogene) is directed by Shari Springer Berman & Robert Pulcini (American Splendor) and stars Kristen Wiig, Annette Bening, Matt Dillon, Darren Criss and Bob Balaban. The movie follows a New York playwright who stages a fake suicide attempt to win back her ex-boyfriend, only to end up being forced into the custody of her gambling-addict mother. enemyDaniel Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans have composed the score for the upcoming indie thriller Enemy. The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve (Incendies, the upcoming Prisoners) and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Mélanie Laurent, Sarah Gadon and Isabella Rossellini. The movie is based on the novel The Double by José Saramago and follows a dysfunctional history teacher who accidentally discovers his exact double on a rented DVD, seeks him out and ends up turning both of their lives upside down. Javier Gullón has adapted the material for the screen and Niv Fichman (Blindness, The Red Violin, Last Night), Miguel A. Faura and Luc Déry (Monsieur Lazhar) are producing the project. the-grandmasterLakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the martial arts epic The Grandmaster. The album features the film’s original music composed by Shigeru Umebayashi (House of Flying Daggers, In the Mood for Love) and Nathaniel Mechaly (Taken, Colombiana). Also included are two tracks composed by Ennio Morricone, including Deborah’s Theme from Once Upon a Time in America. The soundtrack will be released physically on September 10, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for audio clips and the release date of the digital version. The Grandmaster is directed by Wong Kar-Wai (In the Mood for Love, My Blueberry Nights) and stars Tony Leung, Ziyi Zhang, Chang Chen, Zhao Benshan, Xiao Shenyang and Song Hye Kyo. The movie about martial artist Ip Man, who practiced the art of Wing Chun and is best known as the man who taught Bruce Lee will be released on August 23 by the Weinstein Company. boardwalk-empire-volume-2ABKCO Records will release a new soundtrack album for the HBO original series Boardwalk Empire. The album features new recordings from vocalists including Elvis Costello, Neko Case, Patti Smith, Liza Minnelli, Rufus Wainwright, Loudon Wainwright III, St. Vincent, David Johansen, Matt Berninger from The National and more, singing classic songs from the 1920s.  Also included are performances by cast members Stephen DeRosa and Margot Bingham. The soundtrack will be released on September 3, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Elektra/Asylum Records has previously released the Volume 1 soundtrack album for the show, which was honored with a Grammy Award. The film written and directed by Jonze stars Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Olivia Wilde, Chris Pratt and Scarlett Johansson. The movie is set in future Los Angeles and follows a complex, soulful man who makes his living writing touching, personal letters for other people and falls in love with a new, advanced operating system designed to grant the user’s every command. Jonze is also producing the Annapurna Pictures production with Vincent Landay and Megan Ellison (Zero Dark Thirty, The Master). The director’s previous major features Where the Wild Things AreAdaptation and Being John Malkovich were scored by Carter Burwell. Jonze has previously collaborated with Arcade Fire on the short film Scenes from the Suburbs. The band also re-recorded the hit song Wake Up for the Where the Wild Things Are trailer. The album features selections from the score of the show’s first season composed by Nathan Barr (True Blood, Hostel, Cabin Fever, The Americans), including the Emmy-nominated main titles theme. Killing KennedyGeoff Zanelli has been tapped to score the National Geographic Channel’s upcoming TV event Killing Kennedy. The film is based on the best-selling book by Bill O’Reilly & Martin Dugard and stars Rob Lowe as President Kennedy, Will Rothhaar as Lee Harvey Oswald, Michelle Trachtenberg as Marina Oswald and Ginnifer Goodwin as Jacqueline Kennedy. The movie follows the events in the lives of both the Kennedy family and the Oswalds, leading up to the assassination of America’s 35th President. Nelson McCormick (Prom NightThe Stepfather) is directing the film and Kelly Masterson (Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead) has adapted the novel for television. revolutionWaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for the NBC hit series Revolution. The album features selections of the original score from the first season of the show composed by Christopher Lennertz (Identity Thief, Hop, Horrible Bosses, Supernatural). Also included is the opening theme composed by executive producer J.J. Abrams. The soundtrack will be released on September 3, 2013. Audio clips are available after the jump. Revolution  created by Eric Kripke and starring Billy Burke, Tracy Spiridako, Anna Lise Phillips, Elizabeth Mitchell, Zak Orth and Giancarlo Esposito follows a family who struggles to reunite in a post-apocalyptic American landscape. john-williamsJohn Williams is currently scoring the upcoming drama The Book Thief. The film is directed by Brian Percival (Downton Abbey) and stars Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson and Sophie Nelisse. The movie based on Markus Zusack’s best-selling novel is set in Germany during World War II and follows a girl who finds solace from the horrors around her by stealing books and sharing them with others while her adoptive parents are sheltering a Jewish refugee under the stairs of her home. Michael Petroni (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Rite) has adapted the material for the screen. Karen Rosenfelt (The Twilight Saga, Marley & Me) and Ken Blancato are producing the Fox 2000 and Studio Babelsberg production.
