Two new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the action comedy 2 Guns directed by Baltasar Kormákur and starring Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg, Paula Patton, Bill Paxton, Fred Ward, James Marsden and Edward James Olmos. The film’s original score is composed by Clinton Shorter (District 9, Contraband). Metropolis Movie Music will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music digitally next Tuesday, August 6. For the full album details, check out our soundtrack announcement.
Already in theaters since Wednesday is the hybrid live action/animated family movie The Smurfs 2 directed by Raja Gosnell and starring Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara, Hank Azaria and Brendan Gleeson. RCA Records has released a soundtrack album featuring songs from and inspired by the film, including Britney Spears’ new single Ooh La La, as well as songs by Owl City, Nelly Furtado (feat. Ace Primo)and Right Said Fred. Check out out previous article for the full details. SQE Music will release a soundtrack album for Paul Schrader’s upcoming indie drama The Canyons. The album features the film’s original music composed by Broken Social scene member Brendan Canning w/ Me&John. Also included are the songs Love, French, Better by Gold Zebra, Fear by A Place to Bury Strangers and Coming Down by Dum Dum Girls. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 30, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on
