Premiering tomorrow, May 6, on Fox is 24: Live Another Day starring Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kim Raver, William Devane, Judy Davis, Tate Donovan, Stephen Fry and Yvonne Strahovski. The reboot of the hit action series is scored by Sean Callery (Homeland, Elementary, Bones) who previously scored all eight seasons and 192 episodes of the show that aired between 2011 and 2009 on Fox. ‘A Thousand Times Good Night’ Soundtrack Released

Long Distance has released a soundtrack album for the Irish-Norwegian drama A Thousand Times Good Night. The album features the film’s original music composed by Armand Amar (The Concert, Days of Glory, Capital). The soundtrack is now available digitally on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. A Thousand Times Good Night is directed by Erik Poppe (Troubled Water) and stars Juliette Binoche, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Maria Doyle Kennedy and U2 drummer Larry Mullen Jr. The movie follows a war photographer who documents a group of female suicide bombers in Afghanistan and accompanies one of the suicide bombers to Kabul, where she gets injured by a premature detonation of the bomb. Reinhold Heil is currently scoring the upcoming TNT original series Legends. The show is based on the award-winning book by Robert Littell and stars Sean Bean, Ali Larter, Rob Mayes, Tina Majorino, Steve Harris, Amber Valletta and Lux Haney Jardine. The spy drama follows an undercover FBI agent who is so adept at transforming himself into different identities that he begins to question his own. Howard Gordon (24) & Alexander Cary (Homeland) are executive producing the Fox 21 production with Jonathan Levin and Ethan Reiff & Cyrus Voris (Sleeper Cell, Bulletproof Monk). Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Hostages, The Day After Tomorrow) and Mark Bomback (Live Free or Die Hard, Unstoppable) who developed the story with Gordon serve as consulting producers. ‘The Sea’ Soundtrack Released

Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the drama The Sea. The album inlcudes the film’s original music composed by Andrew Hewitt (Submarine, The Double) and featuring violin solos by Hilary Hahn (The Village). The soundtrack is now available to download overseas. Visit the British Amazon store to listen to audio clips. No word yet on a domestic release. The Sea is directed by Stephen Brown and stars Ciaran Hinds, Charlotte Rampling, Natascha McElhone, Rufus Sewell, Sinead Cusack, Matthew Dillon, Missy Keating and Padhraig Parkinson. The movie centers on a man who returns to the sea where he spent his childhood summers in search of peace following the death of his wife. The only wide release this weekend is the superhero sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2 directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHaan. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer and The Magnificent Six, which includes Pharrell Williams, Johnny Marr, Michael Einziger, Junkie XL, Andrew Kawczynski and Steve Mazzaro. Columbia Records and Madison Gate Records have released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as songs by Alicia Keys feat. Kendrick Lamar, Liz and more. Opening in limited release and on VOD is the comedy Walk of Shame directed by Steven Brill and starring Elizabeth Banks, James Marsden and Gillian Jacobs. Hollywood Composers Discuss Music for Action Movies at Newport Beach Film Festival

This past Sunday, the Newport Beach Film Festival Seminar Series presented the composer panel Lights, Camera, Action – Music for Action Films (and other genres). Tim Greiving moderated a panel of film composers who – challenged with the on-screen fights and explosions – offered insight into how the score works in harmony with the film’s visual elements, sound effects and getting all the elements to co-exist. Participating composers included Christophe Beck (Frozen, The Hangover) who discussed the challenges of scoring this summer’s Edge of Tomorrow directed by Doug Liman and starring Tom Cruise. Christopher Young (Spider-Man 3, Entrapment) talked about his music for this year’s Chinese martial arts action movie The Monkey King, which became one the nation’s highest grossing film at the local box office. Apparat to Score Drake Doremus’ ‘Equals’

German electronic musician Apparat is set to compose the music for the upcoming sci-fi romance Equals. The film is directed by Drake Doremus and stars Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult. The movie is set in the future and centers on a couple young couple rebelling against their society where emotions have been eradicated. Nathan Parker (Moon) has written the screenplay. Ridley Scott is producing the project with Michael Schaefer (Exodus: Gods and Kings), Ann Ruark (The Beaver, The Motel Life), Jay Stern and Chip Diggins (Love and Honor). ‘Lullaby’ to Feature Music by Patrick Leonard

Patrick Leonard has composed the music for the upcoming indie comedy drama Lullaby. The film is written and directed by Andrew Levitas and stars Garrett Hedlund, Richard Jenkins, Amy Adams, Jessica Brown Findlay, Anne Archer, Terrence Howard, Jennifer Hudson and Jessica Barden. The movie centers on a man estranged from his family, who receives word that his ill father has chosen to take himself off life support in less than 48 hours. Andrea Stone-Brokaw and Cary Brokaw (Short Cuts, Closer, Sex and Death 101 are producing the project. Lucas Vidal and Chris Ramsdell Launch Music House for Motion Picture Advertising Chroma

Music and Motion Productions’ Lucas Vidal and music supervisor Chris Ramsdell have teamed up to launch Chroma, a new music house for motion picture advertising. The project is a collaboration between Vidal, the composer of such films as Fast & Furious 6, The Raven, The Quiet Ones and The Cold Light of Day and Ramsdell who has placed music in such campaigns as The Hunger Games, Django Unchained, Transformers and The Hobbit and who serves as the company’s creative director. Chroma kickstarts its sonic enterprise with a 65-track showcase album, which was recorded with a 50-piece choir, full string orchestra, 20-piece brass section and 12 french horns. Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the thriller Night Moves. The album features the film’s original music composed by Jeff Grace (We Are What We Are, The Innkeepers, The House of the Devil) who previously collaborated with the movie’s director Kelly Reichardt on Meek’s Cutoff. The soundtrack will be released on June 3, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The album is already available overseas. Night Moves stars Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard. The movie follows three radical environmentalists who are plotting the explosion of a hydroelectric dam—the symbol of the energy-sucking, resource-devouring industrial culture they despise.
