Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

fantastic-fourOpening in most theaters is the superhero movie Fantastic Four directed by Josh Trank and starring Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell. The film’s original music is composed by Marco Beltrami (Scream, The Wolverine, World War Z, 3:10 to Yuma) and Philip Glass (The Hours, Notes on a Scandal, Candyman). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ music digitally last week and a CD version is set to come out on August 14. the-giftAlso opening wide is the thriller The Gift directed by Joel Edgerton who also stars in the film alongside Rebecca Hall and Jason Bateman. Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans (Enemy, Martha Marcy May Marlene, The One I Love, The Wolfpack) have composed the film’s original music. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score digitally today. A CD version is also available overseas. Nathan Barr Scoring Amazon’s ‘Casanova’

casanovaNathan Barr has composed the music for the new Amazon Studios pilot Casanova. The show marks the TV debut of Academy Award-nominated director Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amelie, Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children, A Very Long Engagement) and stars Diego Luna in the title role, alongside Bojana Novakovic, Miranda Richardson and Ben Daniels. The period drama is set in the 18th century and follows Venetian Giacomo Casanova who escapes from prison and flees to France. Stuart Zicherman (Six Degrees, Elektra) has written the pilot script and is also executive producing the project with Jeunet and Electus’ Ben Silverman (The Office, Marco Polo). ‘Staten Island Summer’ Soundtrack Announced

The album features the songs from the film by artists including King Khan & The Shrines, Fawn, Ugly Ducking, Dan Farber, Lowell, Philadelphia Grand Jury, Zeus, Chuck & Mac, Marva W. Taylor, RJD2 & more. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 14, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. As previously reported, the label will also release a separate soundtrack featuring the film’s original score composed by John Swihart. Staten Island Summer  is directed by Rhys Thomas and stars Graham Phillips, Zack Pearlman, Ashley Greene, Jim Gaffigan, Kate Walsh and Gina Gershon. ‘The Paradise’ Season 2 Soundtrack Details

The album features selections from the second season of the show composed by  Maurizio Malagnini who recently received his first Emmy Award nomination for his work on the project. The soundtrack will be released on August 14, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s score from the first season. The Paradise adapted from the classic French novel by Emile Zola is set in the first department store in the 19th century North East of England and tells the story of the life and loves of the staff and their customers. holding-the-manSony Music will release a soundtrack album for the Australian drama Holding the Man. The album features the songs from the film by artists including T. Rex, Rufus Wainwright, Bronski Beat, Bryan Ferry, Dave Mason, Roger Hodgson, Dragon, Masters Apprentices & more. Also included are four tracks from the movie’s original score composed by Alan John. The soundtrack will be released on August 21, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Holding the Man is directed by Neil Armfield (Candy) and stars Craig Stott, Ryan Corr, Anthony LaPaglia, Guy Pearce, Kerry Fox and Sarah Snook. free-state-of-jonesHoward Shore has signed on to score the upcoming historical drama The Free State of Jones. The film is written and directed by Gary Ross (The Hunger Games, Seabiscuit, Pleasantville) and stars Matthew McConaughey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Keri Russell and Mahershala Ali. The movie is set during the Civil War and tells the story of a defiant Southern farmer and his extraordinary armed rebellion against the Confederacy. Air is co-written and directed by Christian Cantamessa and stars Norman Reedus, Djimon Hounsou and Sandrine Holt. The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman is producing the movie, which follows two engineers tasked with protecting humans in air-tight coffins who are the last remnants of human civilization. ‘Paper Towns’ Score Album Announced

imageFox Music will release a score album for the film adaptation of John Green’s novel Paper Towns. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ryan Lott aka Son Lux (The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby) who recorded his score with a 36-piece string orchestra at Capitol Records. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, August 7 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Visit Soundcloud to listen to three tracks from the score.
