Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for Aardman Animations’ Shaun the Sheep Movie. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ilan Eshkeri (Stardust, Kick-Ass, Layer Cake, Still Alice, 47 Ronin). Also included is Tim Wheeler’s Feels Like Summer, which has previously been released as a single. The soundtrack will be released in the UK on June 1, 2015 and in the U.S. on August 7. Howard Shore has been hired to score the upcoming drama Spotlight. The film is directed by Thomas McCarthy (The Visitor, The Station Agent, Win Win) and stars Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Live Schreiber, Stanley Tucci, John Slattery, Brian d’Arcy James, Billy Crudup and Jamey Sheridan. The movie tells the true story of four members of the Boston Globe’s investigative Spotlight team who sacrificed everything to expose the Boston Archdiocese’s systemic cover up of sexual abuse of children by ordained priests. Composer Jed Kurzel is set to make his directorial debut with the upcoming sports comedy drama Ivan Lendl Never Learnt to Volley. The film will star Denis Menochet as a man whose fanatical desire to see his son become a tennis champion comes at any cost. The composer’s brother Justin Kurzel (Macbeth, The Snowtown Murders) is producing the project with Anna McLeish & Sarah Shaw (Partisan, Shopping). Apart from scoring his brother’s features, Jed Kurzel has also composed the music for such films as The Babadook, Son of a Gun and Slow West, which is currently playing in theaters. The first teaser trailer for the upcoming biographical drama Steve Jobs reveals that Daniel Pemberton has been tapped to score the movie. The film is directed by Danny Boyle and stars Michael Fassbender in the title role, Kate Winslet as Joanna Hoffman, former marketing chief of Macintosh, Seth Rogen as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and Jeff Daniels as former Apple CEO John Sculley. Katherine Waterston, Michael Stuhlbarg, Perla Haney-Jardine, Ripley Sobo, Sarah Snook and Adam Shapiro are co-starring. Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, The West Wing, The Newsroom, A Few Good Men) wrote the screenplay based on Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography of the Apple founder. Variety is reporting that Robert Drasnin passed away this past Wednesday at age 87. The composer is best known for scoring numerous TV show episodes between the 1950s and 1980s, including Mission: Impossible, The Twilight Zone, Hawaii Five-0, Lost in Space, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., I Spy, The Wild Wild West, Mannix, Cannon, The Streets of San Francisco, Police Story and CHiPs. His feature film credits include the 1970 thriller The Kremlin Letter directed by John Huston, the 1973 horror thriller The Candy Snatchers and 1966 western Ride in the Whirlwind starring Jack Nicholson. He also composed the music for numerous TV movies and served as a director of music for CBS Television from 1977 to 1991. Read the rest of this entry »
