Back Lot Music will release the official soundtrack album for John Woo’s reimagining of his 1989 Hong Kong action classic The Killer. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Logan, Scream, A Quiet Place, The Hurt Locker, Ford v. Ferrari, The Wolverine). Also included is the original song Introuvable co-written (with Beltrami, Giampiero Ambrosi, Eloi Painchaud & Buck Sanders) and performed by Jorane and actress Diana Silvers’s rendition of Let’s Live for Today. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, August 23. This past week, Marco Beltrami (Logan, Scream, 3:10 to Yuma, A Quiet Place, Ford v. Ferrari, The Hurt Locker, The Wolverine) has been recording his score for the upcoming action thriller The Killer. The film is directed by John Woo (Face/Off, Mission: Impossible 2) and stars Omar Sy, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sam Worthington, Saïd Taghmaoui and Diana Silvers. The movie is being described as a reimagining of Woo’s Hong Kong 1989 classic of the same title. No plot details have been revealed yet.

La-La Land Records has released a soundtrack album for the action thriller Silent Night. The album features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award nominee Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Logan, A Quiet Place, Ford v. Ferrari, The Hurt Locker, Scream, World War Z, The Nun II). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and most other major digital music services. A CD version will be coming out later this month. Silent Night is directed by John Woo and stars Joel Kinnaman, Scott Mescudi, Harold Torres and Catalina Sandino Moreno. The movie follows a tormented father who loses his voice while witnessing his young son die in a gang’s crossfire on Christmas Eve and embarks on a punishing training regimen in order to avenge his son’s death.
Expanded and Remastered ‘Windtalkers’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 2002 war drama Windtalkers directed by John Woo and starring Nicolas Cage, Adam Beach, Mark Ruffalo, Peter Stormare, Frances O’Connor, Noah Emmerich and Christian Slater. The album features the expanded and original score composed and conducted by Academy Award winner James Horner (Titanic, Braveheart, Avatar, A Beautiful Mind, Aliens, Apollo 13, Field of Dreams, Glory, An American Tail), including including around an hour of previously unreleased music and alternate cues. The 3-CD set, which also includes the content of the original 2002 soundtrack album (released by RCA Records), is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples and find out more information about the release.

The movie follows a father on a mission to avenge his young son who was tragically caught in the crossfire of gang violence on Christmas Eve.
Expanded ‘Mission: Impossible 2’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Mondo has announced a new soundtrack album for John Woo’s 2000 action sequel Mission: Impossible 2 starring Tom Cruise, Dougray Scott, Thandie Newton, Richard Roxburgh, John Polson, Brendan Gleeson and Ving Rhames. The double LP features the complete, expanded and remastered original score from the Paramount Pictures production composed by Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, Inception, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Dark Knight, Dunkirk), including around 40 minutes of previously unreleased music. The album will be available to order on the label’s official website starting tomorrow.
Taro Iwashiro Scoring John Woo’s ‘Manhunt’
Taro Iwashiro is reteaming with director John Woo on the upcoming action thriller Manhunt. The film starring Zhang Hanyu, Masaharu Fukuyama, Qi Wei and Ha Jiwon is based on the classic 1970s Japanese feature Kimi yo Fundo no Kawa o Watare and follows an innocent man who sets out to clear his name after his is framed for robbery and rape. Gordon Chan (Painted Skin, he Medaillon) and Chan Hing Kai are producing the project. Iwashiro has previously collaborated with Woo (Face/Off, Broken Arrow, Windtalkers, Mission: Impossible 2) on his last features, Red Cliff and The Crossing.
Soundtrack Album for John Woo’s ‘The Crossing’ Announced
A soundtrack album will be released for John Woo’s epic drama The Crossing. The album features the film’s original music composed by Taro Iwashiro who previously collaborated with the director on 2008’s Red Cliff. Also included are two different versions of Song of Autumn Silver Grass performed by Hitomi Yaida. The soundtrack will be released in Asia on March 11, 2016 and is now available for pre-order as an import on Amazon. The Crossing stars Zhang Ziyi, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Song Hye-kyo, Huang Xiaoming, Tong Dawei and Masami Nagasawa. The movie is set against the upheavals of revolutionary China in 1949 and tells the story of three couples from different backgrounds who find themselves on the ocean liner “Taiping,” which sinks during the crossing between mainland China and Taipei.
