Premiering tonight in the U.S. is the second part of the Worricker trilogy, Turks & Caicos directed by David Hare and starring Bill Nighy as MI5 spy Johnny Worricker, alongside Christopher Walken, Winona Ryder, Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes. The film’s original music is composed by Paul Englishby (An Englishby, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) who previously scored Hare’s Page Eight. The composer also scored the final part in the trilogy, Salting the Battlefield. ‘Rosewater’ Soundtrack Details

Howe Records will release a soundtrack album for Jon Stewart’s drama Rosewater. The album features the film’s original music composed by Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings, The Aviator, The Silence of the Lambs). Also included are tracks by Leonard Cohen, as well as Persian musicians Mahdyar Aghajani and 25 Band. The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 11, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version is set to be released on December 9 and can be pre-ordered here. Check out audio samples after the jump. Rosewater marks Stewart’s screenwriting and directing debut and stars Gael García Bernal. The movie is based on the New York Times best-selling memoir Then They Came for Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Captivity, and Survival by BBC journalist Maziar Bahari and tells the story of Bahari’s imprisonment in Tehran in 2009 and his interrogation at the hands of a man he knew only as Rosewater. Mica Levi Wins European Film Award for ‘Under the Skin’

Mica Levi has been named European Composer 2014 by the European Film Academy for her score to Jonathan Glazer’s Under the Skin starring Scarlett Johansson. For the second time in the history of the awards, a winner in the music category (as well as 5 other categories) has been announced before the awards ceremony following a decision of the Academy Board to draw more attention to the awards recipients in these categories. Levi who is best known as a singer/songwriter for her band Micachu & The Shapes has made her film scoring debut on the film. ‘Song of the Sea’ Soundtrack Details

Decca Records will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature Song of the Sea. The album features the film’s original music composed by Bruno Coulais (Coraline, The Chorus) who previously scored the director’s Academy Award-nominated feature The Secret of Kells. The composer collaborated with Kila on the score. Also featured are the songs from the movie by Nolwenn Leroy. The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 9, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. Two new movies are opening this weekend:
Already playing in select theaters since this past Wednesday and opening nationwide today is the sci-fi drama Interstellar directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Michael Caine. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (Inception, The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Gladiator). WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music in two different editions on November 18. Check out our previous news article for the full album details. Also opening wide is Walt Disney Animation Studios’ feature Big Hero 6 directed by Don Hall & Chris Williams and featuring the voices of Ryan Potter, Scott Adsit, T.J. ‘Supernatural’ Musical Episode ‘Fan Fiction’ to Feature Songs by Christopher Lennertz & Jay Gruska

Christopher Lennertz and Jay Gruska have composed the original songs for the 200th episode of The CW hit series Supernatural. The special musical episode entitled Fan Fiction follows Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) as they investigate the disappearance of a high school teacher and are stunned to discover that the school is putting on a musical based on their lives. One of the show’s writers Robert Thompson wrote the lyrics to accompany the composers’ music. Original songs include The Boys Investigate, Supernatural, A Single Man Tear, The Road So Far, I’ll Just Wait Here Then, and an a cappella version of Carry on My Wayward Son. The Newton Brothers to Score ‘The Runner’

The Newton Brothers have been hired to score the upcoming political drama The Runner. The film marks the directorial debut of Austin Stark and stars Nicolas Cage, Sarah Paulson, Connie Nielsen, Peter Fonda, Bryan Batt and Wendell Pierce. The movie takes place in the aftermath of the 2010 BP oil spill and follows a idealistic but flawed congressman who is forced to confront his dysfunctional life after his career is destroyed in a sex scandal. Stark has also written the screenplay. Benji Kohn, Bingo Gubelmann & Chris Papavasiliou (Happythankyoumoreplease) and Erika Hampson (Mall) are producing the project for Paper Street Films, alongside Glenn Williamson (The Omen, Sunshine Cleaning, Push) for Back Lot Pictures. The film’s music is composed by Howard Shore who previously scored the first two movies in the series, as well as The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Soundtrack for NBC’s ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ to Be Released

Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the NBC mini-series Rosemary’s Baby. The album features the two-parter’s original music composed by Antoni Komasa-Lazarkiewicz who previously collaborated with the project’s director Agnieszka Holland on In Darkness and HBO’s Burning Bush.
