Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

get-outExpected to top the weekend box office is the thriller Get Out written and directed by Jordan Peele and starring Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Bradley Whitford, Caleb Landry Jones and Catherine Keener. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Abels. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. rock-dogAlso opening wide is the animated feature Rock Dog directed by Ash Brennon and featuring the voices of JK Simmons, Luke Wilson, Eddie Izzard, Lewis Black, Kenan Thompson, Mae Whitman, Jorge Garcia, Matt Dillon and Sam Elliot. Rolfe Kent (Sideways, Up in the Air, Election, Legally Blonde, Wedding Crashers) has composed the film’s original score. Emmy Awards Add Music Supervision Category

emmysThe Television Academy announced a number of changes to the Emmy Awards structure today, including a new category for Outstanding Music Supervision. The category will be introduced at this year’s 69th Emmy Awards. The other music-related categories at the Emmys are Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score), Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited Series, Movie or a Special (Original Dramatic Score), Original Main Title Theme Music, Oustanding Music Direction and Original Music Direction. ‘Hand of God’ Season 2 Soundtrack Details

hand-of-godAmazon Content Services will release a new soundtrack album for the Amazon original series Hand of God. The album features the songs from the show’s second season by Holly Marilyn Solem. The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 10, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring the singer/songwriter’s songs from the first season of the drama. Hand of God is created by Ben Watkins and stars Ron Perlman, Dana Delany, Garret Dillahunt, Andre Royo, Alona Tal, Julian Morris, Elizabeth McLaughlin and Hunter Parrish. The show, which follows a corrupt judge who suffers a breakdown and believes God is compelling him onto a path of vigilante justice, will return for its second and final season on March 10.  Read the rest of this entry »

‘Nashville’ Season 5 – Vol. 1 Soundtrack Announced

The album features the songs from the first half of the show’s fifth season performed by cast members including Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere, Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Sam Palladio, Jonathan Jackson, Chris Carmack and Lennon & Maisy. The soundtrack will be released on March 10, 2017. prevengeA soundtrack album has been released for Alice Lowe’s British horror comedy Prevenge. The album features the film’s original music composed by Toydrum (Detour). The soundtrack is now available digitally in the UK. Lakeshore Records will release the album in the U.S. on March 3. Visit iTunes to pre-order the soundtrack. Prevenge is written and directed by Lowe who also stars in the movie alongside Gemma Whelan, Kate Dickie, Jo Hartley, Dan Renton Skinner, Kayvan Novak, Mike Wozniak, Tom Davis and Tom Meeten. The album features the film’s original score composed by Patrick Higgins & the movie’s director Miles Joris-Peyrafitte. Also included is Kevin Reilly’s song Appalachian Moon. The album is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. As You Are is co-written and directed by Joris-Peyrafitte and stars Owen Campbell, Charlie Heaton, Amandla Stenberg, John Scurti, Scott Cohen and Mary Stuart Masterson. The movie is set in the early 1990’s and centers on the relationship between three teenagers as it traces the course of their friendship through a construction of disparate memories prompted by a police investigation. The album features the songs from the movie composed by Justin Hurwitz with lyrics by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul, as well as Hurwitz’s score as featured on the previous official soundtrack and score release. Also included and previously unreleased are D.A. Wallach’s cover versions of Take On Me & I Ran as featured in the movie, a track by Ryan Gosling character’s band The Messengers, Eddie Wakes’ Silent Night arranged by Hurwitz, source cues by Thelonious Monk, as well new versions of Audition and John Legend’s Start a Fire.
