Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the fantasy adventure comedy A Minecraft Movie directed by Jared Hess and starring Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, Sebastian Eugene Hansen and Jennifer Coolidge. The film’s original score is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The Royal Tenenbaums, The LEGO Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21/22 Jump Street). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Black, Bret McKenzie, Dayglow, Dirty Honey, Jamieson Shaw & BENEE last Friday. Also opening wide is the horror comedy Hell of a Summer directed by Finn Wolfhard & Billy Bryk and starring Fred Hechinger, Abby Quinn, Wolfhard & Bryk themselves, Adam Pally, Pardis Saremi, Rosebud Baker, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai and Krista Nazaire. Jay McCarrol (BlackBerry, The Kid Detective, The Dirties, Operation Avalanche) has composed the film’s original score. A soundtrack album is expected to be released in the coming weeks by Lakeshore Records.
