Deadline is reporting that Chance The Rapper is developing the original movie musical Hope. The hip-hop artist who recently contributed music to Illumination’s animated feature Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch is producing the MGM production with Pat Corcoran and Scott Bernstein (Straight Outta Compton, The Turning). Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Nico Segal (aka Donnie Trumpet) will oversee the creation of the film’s original music. Carlito Rodriguez is writing the screenplay for the film, which follows a group of Chicago teenagers that band together to turn art into action within their community.

‘Creed II’ Soundtrack Details
Mike Will Made-It has announced the track list of the soundtrack album for Creed II. The album features songs by Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar & Pharrell Williams, Bon Iver, Nas & Rick Ross, Vince Staples and other artists. Creed II: The Album is expected to be released this Friday, November 16 by Interscope & Eardruma Records. Check back on this page for the download link. A first track from the album (Kill ‘Em With Success by Schoolboy Q, 2 Chainz and Eear) is already available to download here. A separate soundtrack featuring Ludwig Goransson’s original score from the movie is also in the works. Creed II is directed by Steven Caple Jr. and stars Michael B. Cristobal Tapia de Veer to Score Nicolas Pesce’s ‘Grudge’ Reboot
Cristobal Tapia de Veer (Utopia, The Girl with All the Gifts, National Treasure, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) has been hired to score the upcoming supernatural horror thriller Grudge. The film is written and directed by Nicolas Pesce (Piercing, The Eyes of My Mother) and stars John Cho, Demián Bichir, Jacki Weaver, Betty Gilpin, Lin Shaye and Andrea Riseborough. The movie is a reboot of 2004’s The Grudge (scored by Christopher Young), which was based on the Japanese horror feature Ju-on: The Grudge and revolves around a house that is haunted by a vengeful ghost that curses those who enter it…with a violent death.
‘The Legend of the Long Ranger’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Intrada Records has announced the world premiere CD release of the soundtrack album for the 1981 western The Legend of the Lone Ranger directed by William A. Fraker and starring Klinton Spilsbury, Michael Horse and Christopher Lloyd. The album features the film’s original music composed, conducted and produced by John Barry (Dances with Wolves, Out of Africa, Goldfinger, The Man with the Golden Gun), including the song The Man In The Mask performed by Merle Haggard (and featuring lyrics by Dean Pitchford) and harmonica soloist Paul Jones.
Marcelo Zarvos Scoring Roxann Dawson’s ‘Breakthrough’
Marcelo Zarvos is composing the music for the upcoming faith-based drama Breakthrough. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Roxann Dawson who has previously helmed numerous episodes of such shows as The Americans and House of Cards and stars Chrissy Metz, Topher Grace, Mike Colter, Marcel Ruiz, Josh Lucas and Isaac Kragten. The movie is based on Joyce Smith’s book The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother’s Faith and Her Child’s Resurrection about of the miraculous recovery of her son who fell through a frozen lake in Missouri one winter and was proclaimed lifeless.
‘Cam’ Soundtrack Announced
Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the psychological thriller Cam. The album features the film’s original music composed by Gavin Brivik (My Nephew Emmett). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, November 16, and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Cam is co-written and directed by Daniel Goldhaber and stars Madeline Brewer, Patch Darragh, Melora Walters, Devin Druid, Imani Hakim and Michael Dempsey. The Blumhouse production follows a cam girl with a growing fan base who sets out to identify the mysterious culprit and reclaim her own identity when a look-alike takes over her account.
Carter Burwell to Score Bill Condon’s ‘The Good Liar’
Carter Burwell is reteaming with director Bill Condon on the upcoming drama The Good Liar. The film starring Helen Mirren, Ian McKellen, Russell Tovey and Jim Carter is based on the book of the same title by Nicholas Searle and follows a career con artist who can hardly believe his luck when he meets a well-to-do widow. Jeffrey Hatcher (The Duchess, Casanova) wrote the screenplay. Condon (Beauty and the Beast, Dreamgirls) is also producing the New Line Cinema and BRON Creative production with Greg Yolen.
‘A Boy Called Sailboat’ Soundtrack Details
Australian Broadcasting Corp (ABC) has released a soundtrack album for A Boy Called Sailboat. The album features the film’s original music composed by classical guitar duo The Grigoryan Bros. (aka Leonard & Slava Grigoryan). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, November 16, and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A Boy Called Sailboat is written and directed by Cameron Nugent and stars Lew Temple, Elizabeth Derazzo, Noel G, Julian Atocani Sanchez, Jake Busey and JK Simmons. The drama centers on a child who brings hope with his guitar playing to his small town.
‘Bomb City’ Soundtrack Released
Sumerian Records has released a soundtrack album for the drama Bomb City. The album features the film’s original score composed by Cody Chick & Sheldon R. Chick (who also serves as a producer on the project). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Bomb City is directed by Jameson Brooks and stars Dave Davis, Glenn Morshower, Logan Huffman, Lorelei Linklater, Eddie Hassell, Henry Knotts, Maemae Renfrow, Dominic Ryan Gabriel, Luke Shelton and Marilyn Manson. The movie is set in 1997 Amarillo, Texas and revolves around a green mohawked diehard of punk music.

Premiering tomorrow, November 12, is the second season of the National Geographic original series Mars created by Ben Young Mason & Justin Wilkes and starring JiHAE, Alberto Ammann, Clémentine Poidatz, Esai Morales and Jeff Hephner. The show’s original music is composed by Brian Reitzell (Friday Night Lights, Hannibal, American Gods, Boss) who is taking over scoring duties from Nick Cave & Warren Ellis who scored the drama’s first season. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring Reitzell’s music from Season 2 (click here for the full album details).
Premiering on Tuesday, November 13 is DreamWorks Animation Television’s new series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power developed by Noelle Stevenson based on the classic 1980s show and starring Aimee Carrero, Karen Fukuhara, AJ Michalka, Marcus Scribner, Reshma Shetty and Lorraine Toussaint. Sunna Wehrmeijer (Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz) is the show’s composer. The show, which revolves around soldier Adora as she finds a magic sword – and her identity as legendary hero She-Ra, will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
