Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the animated feature UglyDolls directed by Kelly Asbury and starring Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, Blake Shelton, Janelle Monae, Wanda Sykes, Emma Roberts, Gabriel Iglesias, Wang Leehom and Pitbull. The film’s original score is composed by Christopher Lennertz (Lost in Space, Horrible Bosses, Sausage Party) who also co-wrote most of the film’s original songs with Glenn Slater (Tangled, Galavant). Atlantic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs last week. Click here for the full album details.

Also opening wide is the romantic comedy Long Shot directed by Jonathan Levine and starring Seth Rogen, Charlize Theron, Andy Serkis, June Diane Raphael, Ravi Patel, Bob Odenkirk and Alexander Skarsgård. Marco Beltrami (Logan, A Quiet Place, Scream, World War Z, 3:10 to Yuma) & Miles Hankins (The Night Before, Len and Company) have composed the film’s original score. ‘The River and the Wall’ Soundtrack Released

A soundtrack album has been released for the documentary The River and the Wall. The album features the film’s original music composed by Noah Sorota (Falling Skies, Jinn, The Gracefield Incident, Reverie). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. The River and the Wall is directed by Ben Masters and follows five friends on a 1,200 mile journey along the US-Mexico border from El Paso to the Gulf of Mexico. The documentary premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and is being released in select theaters and on VOD this weekend by Gravitas Ventures. Read the rest of this entry »

Max Aruj and Steffen Thum Scoring Alexandre Aja’s ‘Crawl’

Max Aruj & Steffen Thum have composed the original music for the upcoming horror thriller Crawl. Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The LEGO Batman Movie, Home) serves as the score producer of the film written and directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, High Tension, Piranha 3D) and starring Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper. The movie follows a young woman who becomes trapped in a flooding house during a Category 5 hurricane and must battle against Florida’s most savage and feared predators. ‘Backdraft 2’ Soundtrack Details

Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for the action drama sequel Backdraft 2. The album features the film’s original music composed and performed by Randy Edelman (The Last of the Mohicans, Dragonheart, Gettysburg, While You Were Sleeping, Kindergarten Cop). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 10 and is now available for pre-order on iTunes. A CD version will be released by Intrada Records and will be available to order here. Backdraft 2 is directed by Gonzalo López-Gallego and stars Donald Sutherland and William Baldwin who their roles as Ronald Bartel and Brian McCaffrey from the 1991 original Backdraft movie, as well as Joe Anderson, Alisha Bailey and Jessamine-Bliss Bell. ‘Knock Down the House’ Soundtrack Released

Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the Netflix documentary Knock Down the House. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ryan Blotnick and Tyler Wood. Knock Down the House is directed by Rachel Lears and follows four women political candidates from around the country – a young bartender in the Bronx, a coal miner’s daughter in West Virginia, a grieving mother in Nevada and a registered nurse in Missouri – during the 2018 mid-term elections as they took to the campaign trail, built and engaged their bases, and built a movement. Soundtrack Album for RUV’s & BBC’s ‘Trapped’ TV Series Released

Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the Icelandic TV series Trapped. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Hildur Guðnadóttir (Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Joker, Mary Magdalene), Rutger Hoedemaekers and Johann Johannsson (Arrival, The Theory of Everything, Sicario). The soundtrack is now available to download overseas and will be released in U.S. stores on May 24 (click here to download the album) Trapped is created by Baltasar Kormakur (Everest, 101 Reykjavík) and stars Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Bjarne Henriksen, Ingvar E Sigurðsson, Ilmur Kristjánsdóttir, Nína Dögg Filippusdóttir and Björn Hlynur Haraldsson. ‘Cloak & Dagger’ Season 2 Score Album Details

Marvel Music and Hollywood Records will release a new soundtrack album for Marvel’s Freeform’s original series Cloak & Dagger. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s second season composed by Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time, A River Runs Through It, Miracle, The Accountant). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow and will be available to download here. The labels have previously released a score album featuring the composer’s score from the first season, as well as a separate soundtrack featuring songs from the drama. Season 2 of Cloak & Dagger developed by Joe Pokaski based on the Marvel Comic characters created by Bill Mantlo & Ed Hannigan and starring Olivia Holt, Aubrey Joseph, Andrea Roth, Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, Carl Lundstedt, Emma Lahana, Jaime Zevallos and J.D. John Williams’ ‘Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge’ Symphonic Suite to Be Released

Walt Disney Records will release the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Symphonic Suite composed by John Williams (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Jaws, E.T., Raiders of the Lost Ark, Schindler’s List, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone). The composer wrote the suite for the new themed land at Disney’s theme parks in Anaheim, California (opening to the public on May 31) and Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida (opening on August 29) and recorded it last year with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios, conducted by William Ross.
