André Previn has passed away this morning at age 89 at his home in Manhattan. The composer, conductor and pianist has received four Academy Awards during his career for his scores for the movie musicals My Fair Lady, Gigi and Porgy and Bess (shared with Ken Darby), as well as his music for Billy Wilder’s Irma la Douce. His has received numerous other Academy Award and Emmy Awards nominations. He also was honored with eleven Grammy Awards, including two for his work for Gigi and Porgy and Bess.
