Cristobal Tapia de Veer (Utopia, The Girl with All the Gifts, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, National Treasure) has signed on to score the upcoming Amazon original series The Hunt. The show is created by David Weil and stars Al Pacino, Logan Lerman, Jerrika Hinton, Lena Olin, Carol Kane, Saul Rubinek, Tiffany Boone, Louis Ozawa Changchien, Greg Austin, and Dylan Baker. The Academy has announced the updated rules for next year’s 92nd Academy Awards and confirmed that the short lists that were reintroduced last year in both “Original Score” and “Original Song” music categories will return for next year’s Oscars. The new procedure in the nomination phase generated mixed reactions last year, with some parties feeling movies and their respective songs/scores that are released at the very end of the year are being disadvantaged, while others welcomed the spotlight placed on ten additional scores/songs that appeared on the short lists but ultimately were not nominated. 22D Music has released a soundtrack album for the French drama Farewell to the Night (L’adieu à la nuit). The album features the film’s original music composed by Alexis Rault (Being 17, Ladies). Farewell to the Night is directed by André Téchiné and stars Catherine Deneuve, Kacey Mottet Klein, Oulaya Amamra, Stéphane Bak, Kamel Labroudi and Mohamed Djouhri. Waxwork Records has announced a release of the original score from Alex Ross Perry’s musical drama Her Smell. The score is written by the director’s regular composer Keegan DeWitt (Hearts Beat Loud, I’ll See You in My Dreams, Gemini, The Hero, Divorce). Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Leopold Ross (The Book of Eli, Triple 9) have recently scored the upcoming Netflix original movie Earthquake Bird. The film is written and directed by Wash Westmoreland (Still Alice, Colette) and stars Alicia Vikander, Riley Keough, Jack Huston and Naoki Kobayashi. The thriller is based on Susanna Jones’ novel of the same title and tells the story of young female expat who is suspected of murder after her friend goes missing in the wake of a tumultuous love triangle with a handsome local photographer. ‘Cobra Kai’ Season 2 Soundtrack Album Details

Madison Gate Records will release a new soundtrack album for the YouTube Premium series Cobra Kai. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Leo Birenberg (Son of Zorn, Red Army, Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny) & Zach Robinson (F*&% the Prom). Also included is Kari Kimmel’s cover of Bananarama’s Cruel Summer as featured in the Season 2 teaser trailer. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, April 24 and will be available to download here. The label has previously released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score for the first season (with La-La Land Records handling the CD version). Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1994 family adventure Iron Will directed by Charles Haid and starring Mackenzie Astin, Kevin Spacey, David Ogden Stiers, George Gerdes, Brian Cox, Penelope Windust and August Schellenberg. The album features the expanded original score from the Walt Disney Pictures production composed and conducted by Joel McNeely (A Million Ways to Die in the West, The Orville, Holes, Young Indiana Jones Chronicles), including almost 40 minutes of previously unreleased music.
