Redrocca has released a soundtrack album for the documentary Unmasking Jihadi John: Anatomy of a Terrorist. The album features the film’s original music composed by Walter Mair (The Same Sky, Ronaldo, Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Glue). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Unmasking Jihadi John is directed by Anthony Wonke and centers on Jihadi John, also known as Mohammed Emwazi, who was one of the most controversial and dangerous figures to emerge out of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Walt Disney Records has released the original song Spirit from Jon Favreau’s The Lion King. The track is performed by Beyoncé and co-written by herself, Timothy McKenzie & Ilya Salmanzadeh. The song is now available to download as a digital single on Amazon. Also listen to the full track after the jump. Spirit is also featured as the previously listed “TBA” track 14 on the movie’s official soundtrack album, which also features the songs by Elton John & Tim Rice and the score by Hans Zimmer and which will be released digitally this Thursday, July 11. Rolfe Kent (Sideways, Wedding Crashers, Election, Legally Blonde, Up in the Air) has recently composed the music for the upcoming Disney+ original movie Timmy Failure. The film is directed by Tom McCarthy (Spotlight, The Visitor, The Station Agent) and stars Winslow Fegley, Ophelia Lovibond and Craig Robinson. The family comedy is based on Stephan Pastis’ novel of the same title and follows an 11-year boy who believes he is the CEO of his fictional detective agency, Total Failure, Inc. and whose goal is to become so rich his mother won’t have to stress out about the bills anymore. Pastis also wrote the screenplay. Jim Whitaker (Pete’s Dragon, A Wrinkle in Time) is producing the project. Read the rest of this entry »

Mark Korven (The Witch, Cube, Our House, Awakening the Zodiac) has been tapped as the new composer of the AMC anthology series The Terror. The show’s World War II-set second season, The Terror: Infamy, is created by Alexander Woo (True Blood) & Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull IslandGodzilla) and centers on a series of bizarre deaths that haunt a Japanese-American community and a young man’s journey to understand and combat the malevolent entity responsible. Matthew Herbert (Disobedience, A Fantastic Woman, Gloria Bell) is scoring the upcoming Sky original series Temple. The show is developed by Mark O’Rowe (Boy A, Broken) based on the Norwegian series Valkyrien and stars Mark Strong, Carice van Houten and Daniel Mays. The 8-part comic thriller is set in the secret world beneath London, where an illegal clinic has been set up in an abandoned subterranean network of tunnels and follows a surgeon driven by personal tragedy to treat anyone who is willing to pay for medical help outside the system. Silva Screen Records has announced the first soundtrack album for the ITV original series Vera. The album features selections of the original music from the show composed by Ben Bartlett (Walking with Dinosaurs, The Tunnel, The Loch, Stan Lee’s Lucky Man, The Mark of Cain). Composer Heather McIntosh is reuniting with director Craig Zobel on the upcoming political thriller The Hunt. The film’s cast includes Emma Roberts, Justin Hartley, Glenn Howerton, Ike Barinholtz, Betty Gilpin and Amy Madigan. No plot details have been announced yet for the movie, which will explore escalating aggressiveness between the political right and left in America. Damon Lindelof (LostPrometheus, The Leftovers) and Nick Cuse wrote the screenplay. The line-up for several film music-related panels at Comic-Con 2019 has been announced. On Thursday, July 18, a number of film/TV composers will participate in the 11th annual Behind the Music panel. Jeff Russo (Star Trek: DiscoveryThe Umbrella Academy), Stephen Schwartz (WickedThe Prince of Egypt), Wendy Carlos (Tron, The Shining), Sean Callery (Homeland, Jessica Jones), Kurt Farquhar (Black Lightning, Black Soul) and Jim Dooley (A Series of Unfortunate Events, Pushing Daisies) will be participating in a discussion moderated by a to-be-announced celebrity moderator.  Read the rest of this entry »

Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Darkest Hour, Bumblebee, Anna Karenina) is set to compose the music for Matteo Garrone’s upcoming new live-action film adaptation of Carlo Collodi’s Pinocchio. The film is written and directed by Garrone (Dogman, Gomorrah, Tale of Tales) and stars Roberto Begnini as Geppetto, alongside Gigi Proietti as The Cat, Rocco Papaleo as The Fox and Marcello Fonte as The Parrot, as well as Federico Ielapi, Massimo Ceccherini, Matilda De Angelis, Alida Baldari Calabria, Alessio Di Domenicantonio, Maria Pia Timo and Davide Marotta. A soundtrack album has been released for the animated feature Away. The album features the film’s original music composed by Latvian animator Gints Zilbalodis who also wrote, directed and produced the movie. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Away marks Zilbalodis’ feature debut and tells the story of a boy and a little bird on a journey across a strange island as they are trying to get back home.
