Rai Com has released a soundtrack album for the limited series The Name of the Rose. The album features the show’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) (Lion, Adrift, Patrick Melrose, Gunpowder, The Art of Racing in the Rain). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. The Name of the Rose is directed by Giacomo Battiato and stars John Turturro, Michael Emerson, Rupert Everett, Damian Hardung, Sebastian Koch, Richard Sammel, James Cosmo, Fabrizio Bentivoglio and Greta Scarano. The drama based on Umberto Eco’s novel is set in Italy in 1327 and follows a Franciscan monk and his novice as they arrive at a secluded monastery in the Alps, where they become witnesses to a series of mysterious murders. The only movie opening nationwide this week is Disney’s The Lion King remake directed by Jon Favreau and starring Donald Glover, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, JD McCrary, Shahadi Wright Joseph, John Oliver, Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner. The film’s original score is composed by Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, The Dark Knight) who also serves as the executive music producer on the project. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the movie’s songs written by Elton John & Tim Rice (including a new song), as well as an original song by Beyoncé. Opening in limited release is the documentary David Crosby: Remember My Name directed by A.J. Eaton and produced by Cameron Crowe. Marcus Eaton and Bill Laurance have composed the film’s original score. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie follows the singer-songwriter as he confronts mortality and assesses all the damage of earlier days. The movie follows the title character as he must confront his past and unearth his ruthless combat skills to exact revenge in a final mission.
