Notefornote Entertainment will release a soundtrack album for Justin Chon’s indie drama Ms. Purple. The album features the film’s original music composed by Roger Suen who previously scored Chon’s first feature Gook. The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on August 23. Rob Simonsen (Love, Simon, Nerve, Foxcatcher, The Upside, (500) Days of Summer, Tully) has recently recorded his score for the upcoming drama The Way Back. The film is directed by Gavin O’Connor (Miracle, The Accountant, Warrior) and stars Ben Affleck, Janina Gavankar, Al Madrigal, Hayes MacArthur and Rachael Carpani. The movie revolves around a former basketball all-star who has lost his wife and family foundation in a struggle with addiction and attempts to regain his soul and salvation by becoming the coach of a disparate, ethnically mixed high school basketball team at his alma mater. Republic Records has released a new version of All for Us from tonight’s season finale of the HBO original series Euphoria. The track is a collaboration between the show’s composer Labrinth and lead actress Zendaya and is based on Labrinth’s original track of the same title, which was introduced earlier in the season. Premiering tonight is the docu-series Serengeti created by Simon Fuller and directed by John Downer who are both also executive producing the project. The show’s original music is composed by Will Gregory (Nowhere Boy, My Summer of Love) and features vocals by Lola Lennox. The series is narrated by Lupita Nyong’o and follow a cast of African wildlife, including lions, zebras, baboons and cheetahs, over the course of a year. The 6-parter premiered last month in the UK on BBC One and is making its U.S. debut on Discovery. Visit the official show website for more information.
Premiering on Wednesday, August 7, is Fox’s revival of BH90210 starring Jason Priestley, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling. Brian H. Kim (Hello, My Name Is Doris, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Search Party) is composing the original music for the show, which features the seven former teen idols playing heightened versions of themselves. The film’s original score is composed by Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool 2, John Wick, 300). Opening in limited release is the psychological thriller Luce directed by Julius Onah and starring Kelvin Harrison Jr., Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer and Tim Roth.
