Milan Records has released a second soundtrack album for the HBO/Sky limited series We Are Who We Are. The album features a selection of songs from the show by artists including Prince, Radiohead, David Bowie, Aaron Carter, Klaus Nomi, Arto Lindsay, Anna Oxa, Phil Oakey & Giorgio Moroder, Kip Hanrahan and Blood Orange (aka Devonté Hynes). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out audio samples. The label has also released a separate soundtrack featuring Hynes’ original score from the drama. Cinco Paul is composing the original music for an upcoming untitled Apple TV+ musical series created by Paul himself & Ken Daurio (Despicable Me series, The Secret Life of Pets) and starring Cecily Strong, Keegan-Michael Key, Alan Cumming, Fred Armisen, Kristin Chenoweth, Aaron Tveit, Dove Cameron, Ariana DeBose, Jaime Camil, Jane Krakowski and Ann Harada. The show follows a couple who embarks on a backpacking trip in order to reinvigorate their relationship, when they discover the magical town of Schmigadoon, in which everyone acts as if they are in a studio musical from the 1940s. Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black, The Addams Family) is directing the comedy. Paul also serves as the project’s showrunner. Read the rest of this entry »

Opening in limited release this weekend is the sci-fi thriller Possessor written and directed by Brandon Cronenberg and starring Andrea Riseborough, Christopher Abbott, Rossif Sutherland, Tuppence Middleton, Sean Bean and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The film’s original music is composed by Jim Williams (RawBeast, Kill List, SightseersA Field in England). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening in select theaters before premiering on Apple TV+ on October 23 is the comedy On the Rocks written and directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Bill Murray, Rashida Jones and Marlon Wayans. The French indie pop band Phoenix (Lost in TranslationSomewhere) has composed the film’s original music. Glassnote Entertainment has released a first song by the band as a digital single this summer. Jamison Hollister is the composer of the new Showtime limited series The Good Lord Bird. The show is based on the National Book Award-winning novel of the same title by James McBride and stars Ethan Hawke, Ellar Coltrane, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Beau Knapp, Nick Eversman, Jack Alcott and Mo Brings Plenty, as well as guest stars Daveed Diggs, David Morse, Steve Zahn, Maya Hawke, Wyatt Russell and Orlando Jones. The 7-part drama is told from the point of view of a fictional enslaved boy who becomes a member of controversial abolitionist John Brown’s motley family of soldiers during Bleeding Kansas and eventually finds himself participating in the famous 1859 raid on the U.S. Armory at Harpers Ferry. Varese Sarabande has announced a new deluxe edition soundtrack album for the 1995 sci-fi horror movie Village of the Damned directed by John Carpenter and starring Christopher Reeve, Kirstie Alley, Linda Kozlowski, Michael Paré, Mark Hamill and Meredith Salenger. The 2-CD set features the film’s original music composed by John Carpenter (Halloween, The Fog, Big Trouble in Little China, Escape from New York) himself and Kinks guitarist Dave Davies, including the original score on the first disc and the content of the 1995 original soundtrack album, plus bonus tracks on the second disc. Varese Sarabande has announced the latest titles in its CD club series, including a deluxe edition soundtrack for DreamWorks Animation’s 2010 original How to Train Your Dragon movie directed by Chris Sanders & Dean DeBlois and starring Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T.J. Miller and Kristen Wiig. The album features the complete Academy Award-nominated original score from the film composed by John Powell (The Bourne Identity, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Happy Feet), including previously unreleased music, alternate versions and demos. Milan Records will release the official soundtrack album for the psychological horror thriller Saint Maud. The album features the film’s original music composed by Adam Janota Bzowski. The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, October 9 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A first track is already available to download here and can also be checked out below. Saint Maud is written and directed by Rose Glass and stars Morfydd Clark, Jennifer Ehle, Lilly Frazer, Lily Knight, Marcus Hutton, Turlough Convery and Rosie Sanson.
