Alan Silvestri is set to compose the original score for Walt Disney Studios’ upcoming new live-action film adaptation of Pinocchio directed by Robert Zemeckis. He is also producing and co-writing songs for the movie with songwriter/record producer Glen Ballard. Tom Hanks is attached to star in the film as Geppetto. Chris Weitz (About a Boy, Cinderella) is co-writing the screenplay with Zemeckis based on Disney’s 1940 animated classic and will also produce the project with Andrew Miano (The Farewell, A Single Man). The movie follows a seasoned horse jockey Jackson who finds himself facing what could be his last season as his health deteriorates, when a budding young jockey shows up and claims to be his son. The film is written and directed by Ellis (Cashback, The Broken) and stars Boyd Holbrook, Kelly Reilly, Alistair Petrie, Roxane Duran and Áine Rose Daly. The movie is set in the late 19th century and follows a pathologist who arrives in a remote country village to investigate an attack by a wild animal brutal and discovers a sinister presence lurking in the woods.
