Premiering tonight is the Showtime docu-series The Fourth Estate directed by Liz Garbus about how the New York Times covered President Trump’s first year in office. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) composed the show’s main titles theme and H. Scott Salinas (City of Ghosts, Cartel Land, The Ballad of Lefty Brown) provided the original score. Also premiering tonight is the new CNN docu-series 1968: The Year That Changed America about the year marked by the assassinations of MLK and RFK, a contentious presidential election, escalating anti-Vietnam War sentiment and more. Nathaniel Blume (The Flash, Deception) who previously co-scored CNN’s The Seventies, The Eighties and The Nineties with Blake Neely has composed the 4-parter’s original music. Leo Birenberg is scoring DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming series Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny. The show based on the studios’ feature film franchise revolves around four panda kids who stumble upon a mystical cave beneath Panda Village, accidentally absorbing the chi of ancient and powerful kung fu warriors known as the Four Constellations, and must realize a destiny to save the world from an evil force. Mitch Watson (All Hail King Julien), Elliott Owen and Lane Lueras are producing the project.

CBS’ ‘FBI’ to Feature Music by Atli Orvarsson

Atli Orvarsson has been tapped to score the upcoming CBS drama FBI. The show is developed by Dick Wolf (Law & Order, NYPD Blue) and stars Missy Peregrym, Jeremy Sisto, Zeeko Zaki and Ebonee Noel. The series explores the inner workings of the New York office of the FBI, bringing to bear all the Bureau’s skills, intellect and mind-blowing technology to keep New York and the country safe. Wolf is also producing the Universal TV Studios & CBS Television Studios production with Peter Jankowski, Arthur Forney, showrunner Craig Turk (The Good Wife, Private Practice) as well as Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Dead Men Down) who also directed the first episode.

Kevin Kiner & Gustavo Santaolalla Scoring Netflix’s ‘Narcos’ Season 4

Kevin Kiner and Gustavo Santaolalla are the new composers of the Netflix original series Narcos. They are scoring the fourth season of the show, which will star Michael Peña, Diego Luna, Tenoch Huerta, Joaquin Cosio, Jose Maria Yazpik, Teresa Ruiz and Alyssa Diaz. The new season is set in Mexico and will explore the Guadalajara cartel. Showrunner Eric Newman (Children of Men, Dawn of the Dead) is executive producing the series with show creators Jose Padilha (RoboCop, 7 Days in Entebbe), Doug Miro & Carlo Bernard.

Ramin Djawadi’s ‘C.R.E.A.M.’ & ‘Paint It Black’ Covers from ‘Westworld’ Released

WaterTower Music has released the cover versions of Wu-Tang Clan’s C.R.E.A.M. and The Rolling Stone’s Paint It Black by composer Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Iron Man, A Wrinkle in Time, Pacific Rim) as featured in the last episode of the HBO original series Westworld. Both tracks are now available as a digital single on Amazon. Listen to the full cover versions after the jump. Djawadi has previously contributed a different cover of Paint It Black for the first episode of the series. The second season of Westworld created by Jonathan Nolan & Lisa Joy based on Michael Crichton’s 1973 feature and starring Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright & Thandie Newton currently airs Sunday nights on HBO.

Premiering in the U.S. on Wednesday, May 23, is the British mini-series The Split created and written by Abi Morgan, directed by Jessica Hobbs and starring Nicola Walker, Meera Syal, Stephen Mangan, Fiona Button, Deborah Findlay and Anthony Head. The show’s original music is composed by Isobel Waller-Bridge (Fleabag). The drama centers on a family of female divorce lawyers who are forced to face their past following the return of their estranged father after a 30 year absence. The drama premiered earlier this year in the UK on BBC One and will make its U.S. debut on SundanceTV. Visit the official show website for more information.

Premiering on Friday, May 25, is the Netflix original movie Ibiza directed by Alex Richanbach and starring Gillian Jacobs, Vanessa Bayer, Phoebe Robinson and Richard Madden. Jeff Morrow (Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, Trolls Holiday) has composed the film’s original music. The series follows the daughter of undocumented immigrants who reluctantly returns to her hometown only to discover that her teenage crush is now a police officer and also an alien who has kept his spectacular abilities a secret.
