Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Chasing the Moon. The album features the film’s original music composed by Emmy Award nominee Gary Lionelli (O.J.: Made in America, Last Days in Vietnam, Luck). The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 12, 2019 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Chasing the Moon is directed by Robert Stone and reimagines the race to the moon for a new generation, upending much of the conventional mythology surrounding the effort. The documentary will premiere on over three consecutive nights starting on July 8, 2019 on PBS as part of the American Experience series.

Pinar Toprak to Score DC Universe’s ‘Stargirl’
Pinar Toprak (Captain Marvel, Fortnite) revealed in a recent interview on Score: The Podcast that she is scoring the upcoming DC Universe original series Stargirl. The show is based on the DC characters created by Geoff Johns and stars Brec Bassinger, Luke Wilson, Amy Smart, Neil Jackson, Hunter Sansone, Joel McHale and Trae Romano. The drama tells the story of high-school sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past and reimagines the classic superhero team the Justice Society of America.
‘The X-Files’ Season 11 Soundtrack Album Announced
La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the Fox mystery drama The X-Files. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s eleventh and final season composed by Emmy Award nominee Mark Snow (Smallville, Millennium, Blue Bloods, Disturbing Behavior). The 2-CD set is limited to 3,000 copies and will be available to order later today on the label’s official website. La-La Land Records has previously several soundtrack albums featuring the composer’s music from the first nine seasons, as well as Season 10. Season 11 of The X-Files created by Chris Carter and starring David Duchovny & Gillian Anderson is now available on Blu-ray and DVD.
Nathan Barr Scoring Starz’s ‘The Rook’
Nathan Barr (True Blood, The Americans, The House with a Clock in Its Walls, Hostel, Cabin Fever) is composing the music for the new Starz original series The Rook. The show is developed by Al Blyth & Sam Holcroft based on the novel of the same title by Daniel O’Malley and stars Emma Greenwell, Olivia Munn, Jon Fletcher, Joely Richardson and Adrian Lester. The drama follows a woman who wakes up surrounded by dead bodies with her memory erased and must uncover her mysterious past to learn the truth.

Premiering in the U.S. tomorrow, June 24, is the British limited series Years and Years created by Russell T. Davies, directed by Simon Celan Jonesand starring Emma Thompson, Russell Tovey, Rory Kinnear, T’Nia Miller, Ruth Madeley, Jessica Hynes and Anne Reid. The show’s original music is composed by Murray Gold (Doctor Who, Torchwood, A Very British Scandal, Gentleman Jack). The drama, which follows an outspoken celebrity business woman turned political figure whose controversial opinions divide the nation, premiered last month in the UK on BBC One and will air stateside on HBO. Missing from last week’s TV music roundup was the British drama MotherFatherSon created and written by Tom Rob Smith and starring Richard Gere, Helen McCrory, Billy Howle, Ciarán Hinds and Elena Anaya. Rob Lane (Merlin, John Adams, A Discovery of Witches, Beowulf, The Damned United) has composed the show’s original music. Dubois Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. ‘Stranger Things’ Season 3 Score Album Details
Lakeshore Records will release a new soundtrack album for the Netflix original series Stranger Things. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s third season composed by Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein. The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 28 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A physical version is also in the works. The label has previously released soundtrack albums featuring the composer’s score from the show’s first and second season. Legacy Recordings will release a separate soundtrack featuring songs from Season 3 of the series created by Matt & Ross Duffer and starring Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton.
Gabriel Mann to Score Disney+’s ‘High School Musical: The Musical’ Series
Gabriel Mann is composing the original score for the upcoming Disney+ original series High School Musical: The Musical. The show is developed by Tim Federle (Ferdinand) based on Disney Channel’s High School Musical movies and stars Joshua Bassett, Olivia Rodrigo, Kate Reinders, Sofia Wylie, Matt Cornett, Dara Renee, Julia Lester, Frankie Rodriguez, Larry Saperstein and Mark St. Cyr. The series picks up nearly 15 years after the original movie aired and follows a group of students as they count down to opening night of their school’s first-ever production of High School Musical.
Songs from ‘Black Mirror’ Episode ‘Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too’ Released
RCA Records and The Null Corporation have released the songs from the Black Mirror episode Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too. The tracks On a Roll and Right Where I Belong, which were both originally written by Trent Reznor for Nine Inch Nails and adapted for the episode by series creator Charlie Brooker, are performed by Ashley O (played by Miley Cyrus in the show).
