Anne Nikitin (American Animals, Mrs. Wilson, Calibre, This Beautiful Fantastic) has been tapped to score the upcoming biographical drama Stardust. The film is directed by Gabriel Range (Death of a Paradise, I Am Slave) and stars Johnny Flynn as David Bowie, Jena Malone as Bowie’s wife Angie and Marc Maron as publicist Rob Oberman. The movie follows the music icon as he embarks on his first road trip to America in 1971 and creates his Ziggy Stardust persona. Christopher Bell wrote the screenplay. Paul Van Carter & Nick Taussig (Churchill, My Name Is Lenny, McQueen) are producing the Salon production.

Peter Raeburn (Woodshock, Nancy, Photograph) has recently recorded his score for the upcoming Australian crime thriller The Dry. The film is directed by Robert Connolly (Paper Planes, Balibo) and stars Eric Bana, Genevieve O’Reilly, Keir O’Donnell and John Polson. The movie is based on Jane Harper’s bestselling novel of the same title and follows a cop who returns to his hometown to face the demons of his past after his childhood friend dies in a murder-suicide. Connolly also co-wrote the screenplay with Harry Cripps.

The film is is written and directed by Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes, Snatch, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) and stars Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding, Michelle Dockery, Jeremy Strong, Eddie Marsan, Colin Farrell and Hugh Grant. The movie follows American expat who built a highly profitable marijuana empire in London.

Alex Somers (Captain Fantastic, Aloha, Manhattan, Dawson City: Frozen Time) has composed the original score for the upcoming drama Charm City Kings. The film is directed by Angel Manuel Soto and stars Jahi Di’Allo Winston, Meek Mill, Will Catlett, Teyonah Parris, Donielle Tremaine Hansley and Kezii Curtis. The movie is based on the documentary 12 O’Clock Boys and follows a young who boy as he joins the Midnight Clique, the infamous Baltimore dirt bike riders who rule the summertime streets. Sherman Payne, Chris Boyd & Kirk Sullivan and Barry Jenkins (Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk) wrote the screenplay.

Singer/songwriter Julia Holter is composing the original music for the upcoming drama Never Rarely Sometimes Always. The film is written and directed by Eliza Hittman (Beach Rats) and stars Sidney Flanigan, Talia Ryder, Théodore Pellerin, Ryan Eggold and Sharon Van Etten. The movie revolves around two teenage girls in rural Pennsylvania who travel to New York City to seek out medical help after an unintended pregnancy. Adele Romanski (Moonlight, Under the Silver Lake) and Sara Murphy (If Beale Street Could Talk, Gemini) are producing the project.
Simon Franglen to Compose Music for James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ Sequels
Simon Franglen has been hired to write indigenous songs to be performed on screen by members of various Na’vi clans for James Cameron’s Avatar 2 & 3. The composer is also attached to score the first two sequels (which are being shot simultaneously) to the Academy Award-nominated 2009 film (scored by James Horner) will star Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Dileep Rao and Matt Gerald who are reprising their roles from the original film. They are joined by Sigourney Weaver (in a new role) and new cast members Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Oona Chaplin, Brendan Cowell, David Thewlis, Vin Diesel and CJ Jones.
Mica Levi Scoring Janicza Bravo’s ‘Zola’
Mica Levi (Jackie, Under the Skin, Monos) is scoring the upcoming drama Zola. The film is directed by Janicza Bravo and stars Taylour Paige, Riley Keough, Nicholas Braun and Colman Domingo. The movie is based on a series of tweets from Aziah ‘Zola’ Wells who, in 2015, detailed a wild 2-day trip to Florida with a sex worker, her boyfriend and he violent pimp. Bravo also co-wrote the screenplay with Jeremy O. Harris. Christine Vachon (Carol, Far from Heaven), David Hinojosa (First Reformed, Vox Lux), Vince Jolivette (The Disaster Artist, Palo Alto), Elizabeth Haggard, Dave Franco and Gia Walsh (The Art of Getting By) are producing the project.
Frank Ilfman to Score Navot Papushado’s ‘Gunpowder Milkshake’
Composer Frank Ilfman is set to reteam with director Navot Papushado on action thriller Gunpowder Milkshake. The film starring Karen Gillan, Lena Headey, Paul Giamatti, Angela Bassett, Michelle Yeoh, Carla Gugino, Carla Adam Nagaitis and Ralph Ineson centers on a young woman and her estranged mother (both assassins) who must join forces on the run to take down a male-dominated crime syndicate they used to work for. Papushado also co-wrote the screenplay with Ehud Lavski. Andrew Rona (Non-Stop, Unknown) and Alex Heineman (The Commuter) are producing the StudioCanal and The Picture Company production.
