Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album for the comedy sequel Ted 2. The album features the film’s original music composed by Walter Murphy (Family Guy, American Dad) who previously scored the first installment, including the original song Mean Ol’ Moon performed by Amanda Seyfriend and Norah Jones. Also included are tracks by Ray Charles, Alfred Newman, Bone Symphony and John Wilson, Maida Vale Singers & Curtis Stigers. The soundtrack is now available on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio samples. Ted 2 is directed by Seth MacFarlane and stars Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, Morgan Freeman, Jessica Barth and Giovanni Ribisi.

Weekly TV Music Roundup (November 30, 2014)
Premiering tonight is the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie One Christmas Eve directed by Jay Russell and starring Anne Heche. The film’s original music is composed by William Ross (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, The Tale of Desperaux) who previously scored Russell’s Ladder 49, My Dog Skip and Tuck Everlasting and Jerome Leroy. Momentum RLP Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score earlier this week. Premiering on Tuesday, December 2, is the Disney/Pixar holiday special Toy Story That Time Forgot directed by Steve Purcell and featuring the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Kristen Schaal, Kevin McKidd, Wallace Shawn, Timothy Dalton, Don Rickles and Joan Cusack. Michael Giacchino (Star Trek, Lost, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) who previously scored last year’s Toy Story of Terror, as well as Pixar’s The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up and Cars 2 has composed the special’s original music. Walter Murphy Tapped for NBC’s Animated Special ‘How Murray Saved Christmas’
Walter Murphy has been tapped to write the music for the NBC holiday special How Murray Saved Christmas. The project is based on the best-selling children’s book of the same name by Mike Reiss and centers on the cranky deli owner Murray Kleiner, who is forced to fill in for Santa one Christmas and does a weirdly wonderful job. Reiss whose best known credits as a writer include TV shows, such as The Simpsons and The Critic, as well as the features The Simpsons Movie and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs will also executive producing the Universal TV production. Rough Draft Animation will serve as the animation studio. Murphy’s best known film/TV credits include last year’s hit comedy Ted, as well as TV shows including Family Guy, American Dad! and The Cleveland Show. How Murray Saved Christmas is set to air in December 2014 on NBC. (via Deadline)
SCL Hosts Annual Oscar Nominees Reception
This afternoon, the Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) hosted its annual reception honoring the Academy Award-nominated composers and songwriters in the Best Original Score and Best Original Song category at the home of composer John Cacavas in Beverly Hills. All five nominated composers in the score category attended the event: John Williams (Lincoln), Dario Marianelli (Anna Karenina), Alexandre Desplat (Argo), Mychael Danna (Life of Pi) and Thomas Newman (Skyfall). Among the attendants in the Best Original Song category were J. Ralph (nominated for the song Before My Time from Chasing Ice), Claude-Michel Schonberg, Herbert Kretzmer & Alain Boublil (nominated for the original song Suddenly from Les Miserables), Mychael Danna and Bombay Jayashri (who received a nomination for Pi’s Lullaby from Life of Pi), Walter Murphy (nominated for the song Everybody Needs a Best Friend from Ted with Seth MacFarlane) and Paul Epworth (nominated for the title song of Skyfall with Adele).

‘Ted’ Soundtrack Details
The details of the soundtrack album for Seth MacFarlane’s comedy Ted have been revealed. The album features the original score from the film composed by Walter Murphy (Family Guy, American Dad), as well the original song Everybody Needs aa Best Friend performed by Norah Jones. Also included is Queen’s Flash’s Theme (from the 1980 film Flash Gordon), Daphne’s Sin, Norah Jone’s Come Away With Me, Hootie and the Blowfish’s Only Wanna Be With You, Rita Coolidge’s All Time High (from the film Octopussy) and Tiffany’s I Think We’re Alone Now. Walter Murphy Scores Seth MacFarlane’s ‘Ted’
Walter Murphy is currently recording his orchestral score for the upcoming live action & CG-animated comedy Ted. The film is directed by Seth MacFarlane and stars Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Giovanni Ribisi and Joel McHale. The movie tells the story of a grown man who must deal with the cherished teddy bear (voiced by MacFarlane) who came to life as the result of a childhood wish and has refused to leave his side ever since. MacFarlane has co-written the screenplay with Alec Sulkin & Wellesley Wild and is also producing the film with Scott Stuber (Role Models, Safe House), John Jacobs (Blades of Glory) and Jason Clark (Hotel for Dogs). Murphy has been working with MacFarlane over the last couple of years on the animated hit shows American Dad and Family Guy, for which the composer has received four Emmy Award nominations. Ted is scheduled to be released on July 13, 2012 by Universal Pictures.
