La-La Land Records has announced the album Star Trek Collection- The Final Frontier, a new 4-CD set featuring previously unreleased music from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise. The first disc includes “lost cues” from Star Trek: The Motion Picture written by Jerry Goldsmith (but never recorded) and performed by Joe Kraemer (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Jack Reacher), as well as music from The Next Generation composed by Dennis McCarthy and Jay Chattaway. The second disc includes previously unreleased music from Deep Space Nine written by McCarthy, Chattaway, David Bell and Paul Baillargeon. The third disc features tracks from Voyager composed by Chattaway & Bell and the fourth disc includes selections of music from Enterprise written by McCarthy, Baillargeon, Bell, Kevin Kiner and Velton Ray Bunch.

Premiering on Wednesday, November 20, is Spectrum’s reboot of the 90s comedy Mad About You developed by Peter Tolan and starring Paul Reiser, Helen Hunt, Abby Quinn, Anne Ramsey, John Pankow and Richard Kind. The show’s original score is composed by Steven Argila (Basmati Blues, Wayne, Max Steel, The Thing About My Folks). The film’s original music is composed by Mark Leggett (My Name is Earl, Anne Frank’s Holocaust) and Velton Ray Bunch (Quantum Leap, Star Trek: Enterprise) who previously collaborated on the theme for the NBC drama The Pretender. The movie is set in the Tennessee Great Smoky Mountains in 1955 and tells the story of the incidents in Dolly Parton’s and her family’s life around the time she was nine years old. Premiering on Friday, December 11, is the Netflix original movie The Ridiculous 6 directed by Frank Coraci and starring Adam Sandler, Taylor Lautner, Nick Nolte, Will Forte, Rob Schneider, Terry Crews, Blake Shelton, Whitney Cummings, Steve Buscemi, Luke Wilson, Steve Zahn, Jorge Garcia, Danny Trejo, Chris Parnell, Nick Swardson and Jon Lovitz. Rupert Gregson-Williams (Click, Bee Movie, Veep, You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, Bedtime Stories) and Elmo Weber has composed the film’s original music. The comedy western follows an outlaw who was raised by Native Americans and, alongside his five brothers, goes on a mission to find their wayward, deadbeat dad. La-La Land Records has announced a new 4-CD soundtrack collection for the sci-fi series Star Trek: Enterprise starring Scott Bakula, John Billingsley and Jolene Blalock. The album features selections from the show’s original music written by composers Dennis McCarthy (Star Trek: Generations Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Kevin Kiner (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, CSI: Miami), Jay Chattaway (Star Trek: Voyager), David Bell (Murder, She Wrote), Paul Baillargeon (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Velton Ray Bunch (Magnum, P.I., Quantum Leap), Mark McKenzie (The Greatest Miracle), John Frizzell (Alien: Resurrection, The Following) and Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World). Also included is the series’ main titles song from the first season Where My Heart Will Take Me written by Diane Warren and performed by Russell Watson.
Composers on TNT’s Mystery Movie Night
TNT is launching the Mystery Movie Night, a series of contemporary crime dramas, based on popular novels. The first six movies that are premiering in the next few weeks have some notable composers working on the music for the films. Airing tommorow, November 30 is the mystery drama Ricochet based on a novel by Sandra Brown and starring John Corbett, Gary Cole, Julie Benz and Kelly Overton. The movie centers on two homicide detectives find their careers and lives on the line when they get caught up in a case of murder and betrayal in high-society Savannah. Nick Gomez (Dexter, Drowning Mona) is directing and Howard Braunstein (The Informant!) and Jim Head are executive producing. The film’s music is composed by Chris Bacon who caught the attention of the film music community with his orchestral score for this year’s Source Code directed by Duncan Jones and starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
