Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for the musical episode of the USA series Psych. The album features the songs and score from the episode. The songs are performed by the show’s cast including James Roday, Dulé Hill, Anthony Rapp, Ally Sheedy, Barry Bostwick, Brooke Lyons, Jimmi Simpson and Kurt Fuller and composed by the series’ creator/executive producer Steve Franks and Adam Cohen and were recorded in part on the Sinatra stage at Capital Records in Los Angeles. The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 16, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Psych The Musical is written and directed by Steve Franks, who is also executive producing the project for Universal Cable Productions in association with Tagline Pictures, with Kelly Kulchak and Chris Henze. Tree Adams Scoring ‘Reach Me’, ‘Swelter’ and USA’s ‘Sirens’
Tree Adams has recently composed the score for the upcoming drama Reach Me. The movie is directed by John Herzfeld (15 Minutes, 2 Days in the Valley) and stars Sylvester Stallone, Kyra Sedgwick, Tom Berenger, Kevin Connolly, Thomas Jane, Kelsey Grammer, Nelly, Danny Aiello, Terry Crews, Lauren Cohan, Elizabeth Henstridge, Cary Elwes, Ryan Kwanten, David O’Hara and Omari Hardwick.. The film follows a group of very different people connected by a self-help book written by a reclusive football coach whose lives intertwine and eventually collide. Rebekah Chaney and Cassian Elwes (Lee Daniels’ The Butler, The Paperboy) are producing the Seraphim Films and Paradox Entertainment production.
Weekly TV Music Roundup (June 9, 2013)
Premiering tomorrow, June 10 is the new TNT drama King & Maxwell based on the bestselling series of books by author David Baldacci, developed for television by Shane Brennan (NCIS: Los Angeles) and starring Jon Tenney, Rebecca Romijn, Michael O’Keefe, Chris Butler and Ryan Hurst. The show follows two disgraced Secret Service agents who start their own private investigative firm. Eric Colvin (Monte Walsh) is composing the original score for the drama. Brennan is producing the CBS Television Studios production with Grant Anderson (Third Watch) and Chris Downey (Leverage). King & Maxwell will air every Monday night on TNT. Toby Chu Scoring ‘Dorothy of Oz’
Toby Chu is scoring the upcoming 3D animated feature Dorothy of Oz. The film is directed by Dan St. Pierre (Everyone’s Hero) & Will Finn (The Road to El Dorado) and features the voice talent of Lea Michele, Hugh Dancy, Megan Hilty, Jim Belushi, Martin Short, Dan Aykroyd, Kelsey Grammer, Oliver Platt, Bernadette Peters and Patrick Stewart. The movie’s story begins where L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz ends and is adapted from the adventure book series written by the author’s great-grandson Roger Stanton-Baum. Bryan Adams has reportedly written original songs for the project. Bonne Radford (Balto, The Road to El Dorado), Roland Carroll and Ryan Carroll are among the film’s producers.
David Lawrence Scoring USA’s ‘Common Law’
David Lawrence is the composer of the new USA series Common Law. The show starring Michael Ealy, Warren Kole, Jack McGee and Sonya Walger centers on two cops who are forced into couples’ therapy by their Captain to revive their flagging professional relationship. The drama is is executive produced and written by Cormac Wibberley and Marianne Wibberley (National Treasure, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle). Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure, Phenomenon) has directed the pilot and is also executive producing with Craig Sweeny (Medium, The 4400) through his Junction Entertainment production company. Lawrence’s best known credits include the first two American Pie films, the High School Musical series and the comedy Van Wilder.
Blake Neely to Score USA’s ‘Political Animals’
Blake Neely is set to score USA’s upcoming mini-series Political Animals. The series stars Sigourney Weaver as a divorced former First Lady and the current Secretary of State who struggles to keep her family together while simultaneously dealing with the crises of the State Department. Ellen Burstyn, Carla Gugino, James Wolk, Adrian Pasar, Roger Bart, Dan Futterman and Ciaran Hinds are co-starring. The project reunites the composer with frequent collaborator Greg Berlanti who is executive producing the drama, as well as writing and directing the first episode. Neely and Berlanti have previously worked together on TV shows including Everwood, No Ordinary Heroes and Brothers & Sisters, as well as the feature film Life as We Know It.

Airing every Tuesday night on the network is the drama Combat Hospital. The show centers on a group of doctors and nurses from Canada, the U.S., the U.K. and other allied countries saving lives and limbs in a war zone military hospital modeled on a real facility in Afghanistan. Deborah Kara Unger, Michelle Borth, Elias Koteas, Terry Chen, Arnold Pinnock and Luke Mably are starring. The show’s music is composed by Edmund Butt (The Dark, Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes) and additional music is written by Samuel Sim (The Deep).
Composers on USA’s ‘Suits’, ‘Necessary Roughness’ and ‘Covert Affairs’
Christopher Tyng (Futurama , Rescue Me) is scoring the new legal drama Suits. The show created by Aaron Korsh and starring Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Meghan Markle, Rick Hoffman and Gina Torres centers on a top Manhattan corporate lawyer who recruits a brilliant but unmotivated college dropout as a new associate. Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) who has worked with Tyng on multiple TV shows, including The OC, Knight Rider and Covert Affairs is executive producing the show. Kevin Bray directed the pilot. Suits (formerly known as A Legal Mind) is set to premiere on June 23, 2011 on USA and the first season of 12 episodes will be airing every Thursday night.
