A soundtrack album for the crime thriller Blood Ties has been announced. The album features the film’s original music composed by French singer/songwriter Yodelice. Also included are the songs from the movie by artists including The Velvet Underground, Sam Cooke, Little Richard, The Rubettes, Ace Frehley, Lee Moses, Al Wilson and more. Blood Ties is directed by Guillaume Canet (Tell No One, Little White Lies) and stars Clive Owen, Billy Crudup, Marion Cotillard, Mila Kunis, Zoe Saldana, Matthias Schoenaerts, James Caan, Noah Emmerich, Lili Taylor, John Ventimiglia, Domenick Lombardozzi and Griffin Dunne. The movie follows two brothers, on either side of the law, who face off over organized crime in Brooklyn during the 1970s. The thriller premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and will be released in France on October 30. Lionsgate/Roadside Attractions has picked up domestic distribution rights and is planning a release in 2014.

Expanded Soundtrack Albums for ‘Cocoon’ and ‘The Hunt for Red October’ Announced
Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1985 fantasy comedy Cocoon directed by Ron Howard and starring Don Ameche, Wilford Brimley, Hume Cronyn, Jack Gilford, Maureen Stapleton, Jessica Tandy, Brian Dennehy, Steve Guttenberg and Tahnee Welch. The album features the expanded and remastered original score from the 20the Century Fox production composed and conducted by James Horner who collaborated with Howard numerous times on such movies as Apollo 13, Willow, A Beautiful Mind and Ransom. ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’ Score Album Details
Decca Records will release a score album for the upcoming biographical drama Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. The album features the film’s original music composed by Alex Heffes (The Last King of Scotland, The Rite, State of Play). The movie chronicles Nelson Mandela’s life journey from his childhood in a rural village through to his inauguration as the first democratically elected president of South Africa.
‘Dom Hemingway’ Soundtrack Details
Metropolis Movie Music will release a soundtrack album for the crime comedy Dom Hemingway. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rolfe Kent (Sideways, Election, Up in the Air), as well as the songs from the film by artists including Citizen Cope, Chad Hobson and Emilia Clarke. The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 12, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Dom Hemingway is directed by Richard Shepard and stars Jude Law, Richard E. Grant, Demian Bichir, Emilia Clarke, Kerry Condon, Jumayn Hunter and Madalina Ghenea. The movie about a notorious safecracker who is looking for payback from a crime boss premiered at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and will be released in the UK on November 15 and in the U.S. on April 4, 2014 by Fox Searchlight.
‘Quai d’Orsay’ Soundtrack Announced
Quartet Records will release a soundtrack album for the political satire Quai d’Orsay. The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-nominated composer Philippe Sarde (Tess, The Tenant). The soundtrack will be released next month and is now available for pre-order on the label’s official website. Quai d’Orsay is directed by Bertrand Tavernier (‘Round Midnight, Coup de torchon) and stars Thierry Lhermitte, Raphaël Personnaz and Niels Arestrupt. The movie follows a dashing, globetrotting French foreign minister whose charm and insouciance mask his utter and complete incompetence. The comedy premiered at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and will be released in France on November 6, 2013.
‘Nebraska’ Soundtrack Details
The details for the soundtrack album for Alexander Payne’s comedy drama Nebraska have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mark Orton (The Good Girl) of the Californian acoustic chamber music group Tin Hat. The movie follows an old man with increasing dementia who goes on a road trip from Montana to Nebraska with one of his sons to collect a sweepstakes prize he thinks he has won. The movie premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year and will be released on November 15, 2013 by Paramount Vantage.
Pino Donaggio’s ‘Patrick’ Score to Be Released
Quartet Records has announced a soundtrack album for the horror thriller Patrick. The album features the film’s original score composed by Pino Donaggio (Dressed to Kill, Carrie, Blow Out) and performed by the City of Prague Philarmonic Orchestra. The soundtrack is set to be released in January of 2014. Patrick is directed by Mark Hartley and stars Charles Dance, Sharni Vinson, Jackson Gallagher and Rachel Griffiths. The film is a re-imagining of the 1970’s Australian feature of the same title about a comatose hospital patient who harasses and kills through his powers of telekinesis to claim his private nurse as his own. The premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival this past summer and was just released in Australia. Phase 4 and Uncork’d Entertainment have recently picked up domestic distribution rights and are planning a release on VOD and in theaters in early 2014.
‘The Last Days on Mars’ Soundtrack Announced
Metropolis Movie Music will release a soundtrack album for the sci-fi thriller The Last Days on Mars. The album features the film’s original music composed by Max Richter (Disconnect, Waltz With Bashir). The soundtrack will be released overseas on October 28, 2013. The Last Days on Mars is directed by Ruairi Robinson and stars Liev Schreiber, Romola Garai, Elias Koteas, Olivia Williams, Johnny Harris, Goran Kostic and Tom Cullen. The movie follows a group of astronauts on an exploratory mission to Mars who discover colonies of bacteria living deep within the permafrost. The thriller premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and was picked up for domestic distribution by Magnolia Pictures.
‘Attila Marcel’ Soundtrack Details
The details of the soundtrack album for the French comedy Attila Marcel have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by director Sylvain Chomet (The Triplets of Belville) and Franck Monbaylet. Chomet previously wrote the music for his Academy Award-nominated feature The Illusionist. The soundtrack will be released in France on November 4, 2013 (click here for audio clips). No word yet on a domestic release date. Attila Marcel is written and directed by Chomet and stars Guillaume Gouix, Anne Le Ny, Bernadette Lafont and Hélène Vincent. The film marks the director’s first live action feature and follows a mute, sweet-natured man-child whose reawakened childhood memories unleash marvellous musical fantasies. The movie premiered at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and will be released in France on October 30.
Elliot Goldenthal’s Expanded ‘Pet Sematary’ Score Released
La-La Land Records will release a new soundtrack album for the 1989 horror thriller Pet Sematary directed by Mary Lambert, based on Stephen King’s best-selling novel and starring Dale Midkiff, Denise Crosby and Fred Gwynne. The album features the expanded and remastered original score from the movie composed by Elliot Goldenthal (Frida, Interview with a Vampire, Alien 3). The soundtrack features over 30 minutes of previously unreleased music from the Paramount Pictures production and also includes alternate tracks and source cues.
