Cristal Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the 3D animated feature Asterix: The Land of the Gods (Astérix: Le domaine des dieux). The album features the film’s original music composed by Philippe Rombi (Swimming Pool, The New Girlfriend, Potiche, In the House). Also included is Johann Sebastian Bach’s Fugue No. 5 in D Minor as used in the movie. The soundtrack will be released in France on December 8, 2014. ‘The New Girlfriend’ Soundtrack Details
Cristal Records will release a soundtrack album for Francois Ozon’s French drama The New Girlfriend (Une nouvelle amie). The album features the film’s original music composed by Phillipe Rombi who previously collaborated with the director on such films as Swimming Pool, Angel, Potiche and In the House. The soundtrack will be released overseas on November 3, 2014. The New Girlfriend is written and directed by Ozon and stars Romain Duris, Anaïs Demoustier and Raphaël Personnaz. The movie centers on a young woman who makes a surprising discovery about the husband of her late best friend. The drama premiered at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and will be released in French theaters on November 5.
Philippe Rombi to Score ‘Asterix: The Land of the Gods’
Philippe Rombi has been hired to score the upcoming 3D animated feature Asterix: The Land of the Gods (Astérix: Le domaine des dieux). The movie is directed by Alexandre Astier and Louis Clichy and features the voices of Roger Carel, Lorant Deutsch, Alain Chabat, Laurent Lafitte, Géraldine Nakache, Elie Semoun, Florence Foresti and Astier himself in the original French version. No word yet on the voice cast of the English language version. The film is based on the 7th Asterix book, entitled The Mansion of the Gods written by Rene Goscinny and illustrated by Albert Uderzo, and follows the exploits of a village of ancient Gauls as they resist Roman occupation. The SND, M6 Studio and Mikros Images production marks the first Asterix feature to be released in 3D.

Three new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the comedy The Other Woman directed by Nick Cassavetes and starring Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kate Upton, Taylor Kinney and Nicki Minaj. Aaron Zigman (Bridge to Tarabithia, The Proposal) who previously collaborated with the directors on such movies as John Q, The Notebook and My Sister’s Keeper has composed the film’s original score. Also opening wide this weekend is the horror thriller The Quiet Ones directed by John Pogue and starring Jared Harris, Sam Claflin, Erin Richards, Rory Fleck-Byrne and Olivia Cooke. Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music, as well as songs by The Noizeby Slade and T.Rex and three original Radio Caroline jingles from the 70s. The details of the soundtrack album for Francois Ozon’s drama Young & Beautiful (Jeune et jolie) have been revealed. The soundtrack features the film’s original score composed by Philippe Rombi who has previously worked with the director on such films as Swimming Pool, Angel, In the House and Potiche. Also included are the songs featured in the film by Françoise Hardy, M83, Crystal Castles, The Citizens and Poni Hoax. The soundtrack will be released in France both physically and digitally on August 19, 2013 (visit Amazon to order the CD as an import). No word yet on a domestic release. Young & Beautiful written and directed by Ozon and starring Marine Vacth, Charlotte Rampling, Géraldine Pailhas, Frédéric Pierrot, Fantin Ravat and Johan Leisen tells the story of young woman coming of age from her sexual awakening to the loss of her virginity, and from her exploration of love to her search for her identity. The drama premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and will be released in France on August 21.
Philippe Rombi Scoring Francois Ozon’s ‘Young & Beautiful’
Philippe Rombi is reuniting with director Francois Ozon on the upcoming French drama Young & Beautiful (Jeune et jolie). The movie is written and directed by Ozon and stars Marine Vacth, Charlotte Rampling, Géraldine Pailhas, Frédéric Pierrot, Fantin Ravat and Johan Leisen. No specific plot details have been revealed yet, but the film has been described as a “contemporary portrait of a teenage girl of 17, in 4 seasons and 4 songs”. Eric & Nicolas Altmayer are producing the project. Rombi and Ozon have previously collaborated numerous times, including on such films as Swimming Pool, Angel and Potiche, as well as on the recent thriller In the House, which just opened in select U.S. cities this weekend. Young & Beautiful is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month and is scheduled to be released on August 21, 2013 in France.

The film’s music is composed by Alexandre Desplat (The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows). Cristal Publishing will release a soundtrack album for Francois Ozon’s French thriller In the House (Dans la maison). The album features the film’s original score by the director’s regular musical collaborator Philippe Rombi (Swimming Pool, Potiche, Angel). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 8, 2012 in France. Click here to listen to audio clips from the score. In the House is written and directed by Ozon and stars Fabrice Luchini, Ernst Umhauer, Kristin Scott Thomas, Emmanuelle Seigner and Denis Menochet. The movie follows a professor and a student who comes to threaten the relationships of those around them. The film recently premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and has been picked up by Cohen Media Group for domestic distribution. The thriller will be released in France on October 10 and in other European markets in the following weeks and months.
Philippe Rombi’s ‘La Nouvelle Guerre des Boutons’ Soundtrack Announced
Music Box Records has announced a soundtrack release for last year’s film adaptation of La Nouvelle Guerre des Boutons (War of the Buttons). The album includes the original score from the movie composed by Philippe Rombi (Swimming Pool). For audio clips and to pre-order the album, visit the label’s website. La Nouvelle Guerre des Boutons is directed by Christophe Barratier (The Chorus, Paris 36) and stars Laeticia Casta, Kad Merad, Guillame Canet and Gerard Jugnot. The movie was released in France last fall. The Weinstein Company has reportedly been in negotiations to pick up domestic rights for a release in the US later this year.

The movie is based on Spanish playwright Juan Mayorga’s work The Boy in the Last Row and stars Kristin Scott Thomas, Fabrice Luchini, Emmanuelle Seigner and Denis Menochet. The film centers on a professor and a student who comes to threaten the relationships of those around them. The thriller is produced by Eric and Nicolas Altmayer for Mandarin Cinema and Claudie Ossard (Amelie, Delicatessen). Rombi has worked with the director on most of his features projects, including last year’s Potiche, Angel and Swimming Pool. Dans la maison is expected to be released in France in 2012.
