Shigeru Umebayashi (In the Mood for Love, House of Flying Daggers, The Grandmaster, 2046, Curse of the Golden Flowers) has composed the original music for the new Chinese fantasy drama The Yin Yang Master. The film is directed by Li Weiran and stars Chen Kun, Zhou Xun and William Chan. The movie based on the popular mobile game Onmyōji is set in a world that is on the verge of a devastating war with the monsters who are coming back to retrieve the Scaling Stone and follows the titular Yin Yang Master as he travels to different worlds to prepare for the upcoming assaults.

Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the Netflix anime series Blood of Zeus. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s first season composed by Paul Edward-Francis (Howl, The Convent). Blood of Zeus is created by Charles Parlapanides & Vlas Parlapanides and features the voices of Derek Phillips, Jason O’Mara, Claudia Christian, Mamie Gummer, Jessica Henwick, Elias Toufexis, Chris Diamantopoulos and Adetokumboh M’Cormack. Bear McCreary to Score Netflix’s ‘Masters of the Universe: Revelation’
Kevin Smith has announced that Bear McCreary (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Battlestar Galactica, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Outlander, The Walking Dead) has been tapped to score the upcoming Netflix original series Masters of the Universe: Revelation. The show based on the Mattel franchise and stars Mark Hamill, Lena Headey, Chris Wood, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Liam Cunningham, Stephen Root, Diedrich Bader, Griffin Newman, Tiffany Smith, Henry Rollins, Alan Oppenheimer, Susan Eisenberg, Alicia Silverstone, Justin Long, Jason Mewes, Phil LaMarr, Tony Todd, Cree Summer, Kevin Michael Richardson, Kevin Conroy and Harley Quinn Smith. The series focuses on the unresolved storylines of the iconic characters, picking up where they left off decades ago.

Cesar Davila-Irizarry, best known for his main titles theme for FX’s American Horror Story, has composed the theme music for Netflix’s Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel, the first season in a new docu-series that deconstructs the mythology and mystery surrounding infamous locations in contemporary crime. Wendy Blackstone (A Girl in the River, Lost in Florence, Criminal Passion) has provided the original score for the show’s first season, which is directed by Joe Berlinger (Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, Paradise Lost trilogy, Brother’s Keeper) and focuses on the Cecil Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, which has been linked to some of the city’s most notorious activity, from untimely deaths to housing serial killers, including the disappearance of college student Elisa Lam in 2013.
Behind the Scenes of Zacarias M. de la Riva’s ‘Below Zero’ Score
Zacarias M. de la Riva (Automata, The Kill Team, Tad the Explorer, Bent) has shared a new behind-the-scenes look at the creation of his score for the Spanish Netflix original film Below Zero (Bajocero). The video features an interview with the composer talking about his musical approach for the thriller, the composing process and the challenges of recording his music during the first national lockdown in Spain last year, as well as footage from the orchestral recording sessions with the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, which he supervised remotely from his studio in Madrid. Soundtrack Album for Netflix’s ‘Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer’ to Be Released
Maisie Music Publishing will release a soundtrack album for the Netflix docu-series Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer. The album features selections of the original score from the show composed by Brooke Blair & Will Blair (Green Room, Hold the Dark, The Informer, I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, Blue Ruin). Also included is the Night Stalker-inspired song Under Your Skin by moa. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, February 5 and will be available to stream/download here. Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer is directed by Tiller Russell and tells the true story of how one of the most notorious serial killers in American history was hunted down and brought to justice.

The show’s original music is written by late composer Jonathan Rhys Hill (The Trial of Christine Keeler). The 5-part drama, which centers on an indomitable, young slave who works on a sugarcane plantation with her detestable mistress, premiered in the UK in 2018 on BBC One and is making its domestic debut as part of PBS’ Masterpiece series.
Premiering in the U.S. tomorrow, February 1, is the Scandinavian limited series The Investigation directed by Tobias Lindholm and starring Søren Malling, Pilou Asbæk, Pernilla August, Rolf Lassgård, Laura Christensen, Anders Juul, Henrik Birch, Hans Henrik Clemensen, Dulfi Al-Jabouri and Charlotte Munck. Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen (Before the Frost) has composed the show’s original music. The 6-part drama, which explores the complex real-life investigation surrounding the 2017 murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall, one of the most notorious criminal cases in Danish media history, is making its U.S. debut on HBO and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.

HAIM to Compose Original Music for Netflix’s ‘The Witch Boy’
Netflix announced today that the Grammy Award-nominated band HAIM will contribute original music to the Netflix animated musical The Witch Boy. The film directed by Minkyu Lee (Adam and Dog) is based on the graphic novel series of the same nam by Molly Knox Ostertag. The movie is set in a magical community where girls are born to be witches and boys grow into shapeshifters and follows the title character who discovers he has emerging witch powers. Maria Melnik (Escape Room) is writing the screenplay. Roy Lee (The LEGO Movie, It, Doctor Sleep), Miri Yoon (Behaving Badly) and Ryan Harris (The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run) are producing the project for Vertigo Entertainment.
