‘Our Flag Means Death’ Season 2 Soundtrack Album Released
WaterTower Music has released a new soundtrack album for the Max original series Our Flag Means Death. The album features selections of the show’s original score from the show’s second season composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The Royal Tenenbaums, The LEGO Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Croods: A New Age, 21 Jump Street, The Mitchells vs. The Machines). Also included is Con O’Neill’s rendition of Edith Piaf’s La Vie en Rose (in both English and French) produced by Mothersbaugh. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. The label has previously released an album featuring Mothersbaugh’s score from Season 1 last year.

Volker Bertelmann to Score Max’s ‘Dune: The Sisterhood’
Volker Bertelmann (All Quiet on the Western Front, Lion, Adrift, Hotel Mumbai, The Old Guard, Patrick Melrose) has signed on to score the upcoming Max original series Dune: The Sisterhood. The show is created by Diane Ademu-John (The Haunting of Bly Manor) based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert & Kevin J. Anderson and stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Jade Anouka, Chris Mason, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Aoife Hinds, Faoileann Cunningham and Chloe Lea The sci-fi drama is set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides and follows the Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind.
Weekly TV Music Roundup (October 15, 2023)
Premiering on Thursday, October 19, is the animated special Peter and the Wolf directed by Elliot Dear and Stephen McNally. The Blink Industries’ music is arranged by Maurice Seezer & Gavin Friday (based on Sergei Prokofiev’s symphony) and performed by The Friday-Seezer Ensemble. BMG will release a soundtrack album featuring the animated short’s music this coming Friday. Also premiering on Thursday is the Max original animated series Scavengers Reign created by Joseph Bennett & Charles Huettner and starring Wunmi Mosaku, Bob Stephenson, Ted Travelstead, Sunita Mani and Alia Shawkat. Nicolas Snyder has composed the show’s original music. The animated sci-fi adventure, which follows the remaining crew of a damaged interstellar freighter ship who find themselves stranded on an alien planet, will be available to stream on Max.
‘Frankelda’s Book of Spooks’ Soundtrack Album Released
WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album for the Latin American Max original animated series Frankelda’s Book of Spooks. The album features the original songs and score from the show’s first season composed by Kevin Smithers. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Available separately is a Spanish version of the album. Frankelda’s Book of Spooks is written, directed and produced by the Ambriz Brothers (Arturo & Roy Ambriz) and is an English language re-release of their Spanish-language version series (Sustos Ocultos de Frankelda) that made its debut on HBO Max Latam in 2021.

Soundtrack Album for ‘Peter and the Wolf’ Animated Short to Be Released
BMG will release a soundtrack album for the animated rendition of Sergei Prokofiev’s symphony Peter and the Wolf. The album features the music from the animated short with the The Friday-Seezer Ensemble performing Prokofiev’s score, newly arranged by Maurice Seezer and Gavin Friday. Peter and the Wolf is directed by Elliot Dear & Stephen McNally and tells the story of a grieving 12-year-old boy who is now in the care of his grandfather after enduring the loss of a parent and decides to explore the vast meadow and forest nearby to try to find a wolf on the loose.

The show’s original music is composed by Simon Goff. Silva Screen Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this year when the drama premiered in the UK on BBC One. Premiering on Tuesday, September 19, is the Netflix original documentary The Saint of Second Chances directed by Morgan Neville and narrated by Jeff Daniels. Daniel Wohl (Project Blue Book, On the Come Up, The Weekend Away, Tales of the Walking Dead, Search Party, They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead) has composed the film’s original score. The movie, which follows Mike Veeck on his journey to redeem himself after he blew up the career of his hustler father, Hall of Fame baseball owner Bill Veeck, premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
