La-La Land Records has announced the details for its latest limited edition soundtrack albums, including a 40th Anniversary Remastered Edition for Richard Donner’s 1978 classic Superman: The Movie starring Christopher Reeve, Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman and Margot Kidder. The 3-CD set features the film’s complete score composed and conducted by John Williams (Star Wars, Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark) on the first two discs (including alternate and additional cues), and a remastered version of the original 1978 soundtrack album on the third disc. Hollywood Bowl 2019 Season Schedule Announced
The Hollywood Bowl has announced this summer’s season schedule, which includes a number of film music concerts. On June 29, the Bowl will host a live to projection concert for Nicholas Hooper’s score for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Sarah Hicks will conduct the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’, ‘Mandy’ & ‘The Other Side of the Wind’ Scores Ruled Ineligible for Academy Awards
Variety is reporting that in addition to Green Book, three more scores have been ruled ineligible by the Academy’s music branch. Among ineligible titles are Solo: A Star Wars Story (composed by John Powell with themes by John Williams), which was reportedly submitted too late, Mandy (composed by Johann Johannsson), which violated the rule of its qualifying theatrical release (as the movie was released on VOD simultaneously), and The Other Side of the Wind (composed by Michel Legrand), which didn’t meet the same rule that Green Book was disqualified for.

Opening in limited release is the drama Vox Lux directed by Brady Corbet and starring Natalie Portman, Jude Law, Cassidy, Stacy Martin, Jennifer Ehle, Christopher Abbott and Willem Dafoe. Scott Walker (The Childhood of a Leader, Pola X) has composed the film’s original score and Sia has written original songs for the movie. ‘Schindler’s List’ 25th Anniversary Edition Soundtrack Announced
La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for Steven Spielberg’s 1993 drama Schindler’s List starring Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley and Ralph Fiennes. The 25th Anniversary Edition features the expanded original music from the movie composed by John Williams (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial) who received his fifth Academy Award for his work on the movie. The 2-CD set, which is limited to 4000 copies, includes the content of the 1993 original soundtrack on the first disc and previously unreleased tracks on the second disc. The soundtrack will be available to order next Tuesday, November 27 on the label’s official website.
Harry Potter – The John Williams Soundtrack Collection Announced
La-La Land Records has announced a new 7-CD soundtrack set featuring the music from the first three movies in the Harry Potter series composed by John Williams (Star Wars, Jaws, Jurassic Park, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Schindler’s List). The album’s first two discs feature the composer’s expanded and remastered score for 2001’s Chris Columbus-directed Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and the third disc includes the frst-ever recorded presentation of the complete Children’s Suite for Orchestra, which the composer arranged and conducted in 2001. The fourth and fifth discs feature the remastered and expanded score from 2002’s Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets composed by Williams and adapted and conducted by William Ross.
‘Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge’ to Feature New Music by John Williams
John Williams has composed new music for the Star Wars-themed land of Galaxy’s Edge, which will be opening at the Disney’s theme parks in Anaheim, California, and Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida next year. The music was recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios, and was conducted by William Ross (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets). The film’s original score is composed by John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, The Bourne Identity) and John Williams (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark) contributed the Han Solo theme.
