Walt Disney Pictures has added the score for Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to their FYC awards website. The 23-track album featuring music composed by John Williams (Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, E.T., Schindler’s List, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) is now available to stream here. The content of the official soundtrack album (to be released on December 20) is expected to differ from the FYC promotional release.

Disaster Movie Soundtrack Collection Announced
La-La Land Records has announced the Disaster Movie Soundtrack Collection featuring three scores composed and conducted by John Williams (Star Wars, Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List). The 4-CD set features the composer’s scores for 1972’s The Poseidon Adventure directed by Ronald Neame, 1974’s The Towering Inferno directed by John Guillermin and 1974’s Earthquake directed by Mark Robson and includes previously unreleased music for the latter two titles. The album features the original music from the ninth episode in the Star Wars saga composed by John Williams (Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, E.T., Schindler’s List, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone). Expanded ‘Minority Report’ Soundtrack Album Announced
La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for Steven Spielberg’s 2002 sci-fi thriller Minority Report starring Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell and Samantha Morton. The album features the expanded and remastered score from the movie composed and conducted by John Williams (Star Wars, Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Schindler’s List), including previously unreleased music and alternate cues. The 2-CD set is limited to 3,500 copies and is available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the full track list and listen to audio samples.
World Premiere Performance of ‘Superman – In Concert’ Announced
City Light Concerts and Film Concerts Live! have announced the world premiere performance of Superman – In Concert, with the film’s Academy Award-nominated original score composed by John Williams (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) performed live to picture. Anthony Gabriele will conduct the City Light Symphony Orchestra while the 1978 original Superman movie directed by Richard Donner and starring Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, Gene Hackman & Marlon Brando is playing on the big screen. The concerts will take place on May 16 & 17, 2020 at the KKL Luzern Concert Hall in Lucerne, Switzerland.
John Williams’ & Anne-Sophie Mutter’s ‘Across the Stars’ Album Announced
Deutsche Grammophon has announced the full details of John Williams‘ & Anne-Sophie Mutter‘s Across the Stars album. The album features the Academy Award-winning composer conducting new arrangements of some of his iconic movie themes, including pieces written for the Star Wars and Harry Potter movies, Schindler’s List, Memoirs of a Geisha, Far and Away, Sabrina & more, with violin solos by Mutter. Across the Stars was recorded at the historic Sony Pictures Scoring Stage in Hollywood and will be released on August 30, 2019 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Expanded ‘Monsignor’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1982 drama Monsignor directed by Frank Perry and starring Christopher Reeve, Genevieve Bujold, Fernando Rey, Adolfo Celi and Tomas Milian. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by John Williams (Star Wars, Jaws, E.T., Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park), including two previously unreleased cues plus several minutes of additional unreleased soundtrack versions recorded for the original 1982 album. Williams’ score is performed by the London Symphony Orchestra.
John Williams’ ‘Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge’ Symphonic Suite to Be Released
Walt Disney Records will release the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Symphonic Suite composed by John Williams (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Jaws, E.T., Raiders of the Lost Ark, Schindler’s List, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone). The composer wrote the suite for the new themed land at Disney’s theme parks in Anaheim, California (opening to the public on May 31) and Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida (opening on August 29) and recorded it last year with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios, conducted by William Ross. The suite will be released as a digital single tomorrow and will be available to download here.
Ludwig Goransson Wins Academy Award for ‘Black Panther’
Ludwig Goransson was honored with his first Academy Award for his score for Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther at tonight’s 91st Oscar ceremony. Check out his acceptance speech after the jump. The other nominated composers in the Best Original Score category were Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansman), Nicholas Britell (If Beale Street Could Talk), Alexandre Desplat (Isle of Dogs) and Marc Shaiman (Mary Poppins Returns).
‘Celebrating John Williams’ – Live at Walt Disney Concert Hall Album Announced
Deutsche Grammophon has announced the full details of the Celebrating John Williams concert recording album. The album features some of the best-known works of composer John Williams recorded in late January 2019 at four concerts at Walt Disney Concert Hall performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. Among the titles included are themes from Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, and Indiana Jones, as well a previously a unreleased concert arrangement (Adagio) for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
