Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for John Frankenheimer’s 1964 thriller Seven Days in May written by Rod Serling and starring Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Fredric March and Ava Gardner. The album features the film’s complete score composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith. Included on the same CD is the world premiere release of the score for the 1973 thriller The MacKintosh Man directed by John Huston and starring Paul Newman and James Mason. ‘The Hole’ Soundtrack Released
La-La Land Records has announced the details of the soundtrack release for Joe Dante’s 3D horror fantasy The Hole. The album features the film’s original score written by Academy Award-nominated composer Javier Navarrete (Pan’s Labyrinth, Wrath of the Titans). The soundtrack is limited to 3000 copies and is now available to order on the label’s official website where you can also listen to audio clips. The Hole starring Chris Massoglia, Haley Bennett, Nathan Gamble and Teri Polo follows two brothers who stumble upon a mysterious hole in their basement and find that once the hole is exposed, evil is unleashed. The film was released in select theaters last fall and is now available on Blu-ray and DVD.
Bill Conti’s ‘Bad Boys’ Score Released
Intrada Records has announced two new soundtrack albums. First up is the world premiere release of the score for the 1983 crime thriller Bad Boys directed by Rick Rosenthal and starring Sean Penn, Esai Morales, Ally Sheedy and Reni Santoni. The film’s music is written by Academy Award-winning composer Bill Conti (Rocky, The Karate Kid). The album features the score, as well as additional alternate and unused source cues. Jerry Goldsmith’s Complete ‘Congo’ Score Released
Intrada Records has announced a soundtrack release of the complete score for Frank Marshall’s 1995 adventure movie Congo based on the novel by Michael Crichton and starring Laura Linney and Dylan Walsh. The album features the film’s score composed by Jerry Goldsmith, including around 30 minutes of previously unreleased music. In addition to Goldsmith’s score, the soundtrack also includes the track Villagers Chant written by James Newton Howard & Lebo M. Varese Sarabande has announced the newest titles in the label’s CD Club series. Among the latest releases is a deluxe edition for the 1991 action thriller sequel Die Hard 2 – Die Harder directed by Renny Harlin and starring Bruce Willis, Dennis Franz, John Amos and Bonnie Bedelia. The film’s music is composed and conducted by Michael Kamen (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Lethal Weapon) who has scored the first three part in the Die Hard series. The 2-CD set includes the composer’s score from the film, as well as several alternates and the end credits piece Finlandia composed by Jean Sibelius. Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the unused soundtrack for the crime thriller 2 Days in the Valley composed by Jerry Goldsmith. The album features over 45 minutes of the composer’s score for the 1996 film directed by John Herzfeld and starring Charlize Theron, James Spader, Teri Hatcher, Danny Aiello, Jeff Daniels, Marsha Mason, Eric Stoltz, Paul Mazursk. ‘Star Trek: The Motion Picture’ Deluxe Soundtrack Edition Released
This past Tuesday, La-La Land Records has released a 3-CD deluxe edition of Jerry Goldsmith‘s classic score for 1979’s Star Trek: The Motion Picture. The album presents the score for the original theatrical release and also premieres the early “rejected” cues that Goldsmith recorded prior to composing his famous main theme. Also included is the 1979 album program, as well as additional alternates and bonus tracks. The soundtrack is limited to 10,000 copies. Remastered ‘Chinatown’ Soundtrack Announced
Varese Sarabande Records has announced the latest batch of titles in the Varese CD Club series. Most notably, the label will be relasing a remastered soundtrack edition for Roman Polanski’s classic 1974 thriller Chinatown starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. The album features the Academy Award-nominated score composed by Jerry Goldsmith. The release is limited to 3000 copies and is available for pre-order on Varese’s website, where you can also check out a number of audio clips. The previous soundtrack CD has been out-of-print for more than a decade. The release coincides with the Blu-Ray debut of the film. Apart from the score nomination, Chinatown has also received 10 other Oscar nods, including in the Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor/Actress categories.
