Hans Zimmer is officially set to reteam with director Ron Howard on the upcoming film adaptation of Dan Brown’s bestselling novel Inferno. Tom Hanks returns to reprise his role as Robert Langdon and is joined by Felicity Jones as Dr. Sienna Brooks, Irrfan Khan as Harry Sims, Omar Sy as Christoph Bruder and Sidse Babett Knudsen as Dr. Elizabeth Sinskey. The movie follows the Harvard symbolist as he wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia and teams up with a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories and prevent a madman from releasing a global plague connected to Dante’s immortal tome. David Koepp (Spider-Man, Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds) has written the screenplay.

The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is the action sequel Furious 7 directed by James Wan and starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Kurt Russell. Interscope Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film by Wiz Khalifa & Iggy Azalea, Skylar Grey, Flo Rida, David Guetta & Kaz James, DJ Shadow & more. Opening in around 250 theaters is the drama Woman in Gold directed by Simon Curtis and starring Helen Mirren, Ryan Reynolds, Daniel Bruhl, Katie Holmes, Charles Dance, Elizabeth McGovern and Frances Fisher. The film’s original music is composed by Martin Phipps (Harry Brown, Brighton Rock) and Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Gladiator, Inception). No soundtrack album has been announced. Woman in Gold follows an elderly Jewish woman who fled Vienna during WWII and, sixty years later, starts her journey to retrieve family possessions seized by the Nazis, among them Klimt’s painting “The Lady in Gold”. Lorne Balfe to Score ‘Terminator Genisys’
Lorne Balfe has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming sci-fi action movie Terminator Genisys. Hans Zimmer will serve as the executive music producer according to the film’s new international poster. The film is directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Game of Thrones) and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Matt Smith, Lee Byung-hun, Dayo Okeniyi, Courtney B. Vance, Sandrine Holt and J. K. Simmons. The movie follows John Connor as he sends Sgt. Kyle Reese back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor and safeguard the future and finds himself in a new and unfamiliar version of the past.. Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine) have written the screenplay.

Opening in most theaters is the sci-fi thriller Chappie co-written and directed by Neill Blomkamp and starring Dev Patel, Hugh Jackman, Ninja and Yo-Landi Visser, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Sigourney Weaver and Sharlto Copley. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Gladiator, Inception). Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score and additional music by Steve Mazzaro & Andrew Kawczynski digitally next Tuesday and physically on March 17. ‘Chappie’ Soundtrack Details
The details of the soundtrack album for Neill Blomkamp’s sci-fi thriller Chappie have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, Inception, The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Interstellar) and additional music by Steve Mazzaro & Andrew Kawczynski. A&E Television Networks will release a soundtrack album for the History event mini-series Sons of Liberty. The album features the show’s title theme composed by Hans Zimmer (Inception, The Dark Knight, Gladiator, The Lion King) and Lorne Balfe (Penguins of Madagascar, Megamind), as well as the score composed by Balfe. The soundtrack is now available to stream on Spotify and a digital release is expected soon. Martin Phipps & Hans Zimmer to Score ‘Woman in Gold’
Martin Phipps and Hans Zimmer have recently scored the upcoming drama Woman in Gold. The film is directed by Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn) and stars Helen Mirren, Ryan Reynolds, Daniel Bruhl, Katie Holmes, Tatiana Maslany, Max Irons, Charles Dance, Elizabeth McGovern and Jonathan Pryce. Hans Zimmer & Lorne Balfe Scoring NBC’s ‘A.D.’
Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe are scoring the upcoming NBC event mini-series A.D.. The 12-parter is the sequel to last year’s History series The Bible and starts with the Crucifixion and The Resurrection and chronicles the events that follow. The show’s cast includes Juan Pablo di Pace, Vincent Regan, Greta Scacchi, Aniss Elkohen, Richard Coyle, Babou Ceesay, Chipo Chung, Cesare Taurasi and Adam Levy. Simon Block (Inspector Lewis) has written the scripts. Mark Burnett (Survivor, Shark Tank) and Roma Downey are executive producing the project with Richard Bedser. Zimmer and Balfe have previously scored last year’s History original The Bible for the producers, as well as the theatrical version Son of God.
Hans Zimmer to Score ‘The Little Prince’
Hans Zimmer is set to score the upcoming animated feature The Little Prince (Le petit prince). The film is directed by Mark Osborne and features the voice talent of James Franco, Rachel McAdams, Jeff Bridges, Benicio Del Toro, Marion Cotillard, Albert Brooks, Mackenzie Foy and Paul Giamatti. The movie based on the novel of the same title by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry follows a pilot who crashes in the desert and meets a little boy from a distant planet who regales him with stories about his home and the inhabitants of nearby asteroids. Aton Soumache and Dimitri Rassam (Upside Down, Escobar: Paradise Lost) are producing the project for Onyx Films.
