Lorne Balfe has been hired to score Michael Bay’s upcoming action drama 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. The film stars James Badge Dale, John Krasinski and Max Martini. The movie centers on the six members of a security team who fought to defend the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi from an attack of Islamist militants on September 11, 2012 – the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.. Chuck Hogan (The Strain) has written the screenplay based on the book of the same title by Mitchell Zukoff. Bay is also producing the drama with Erwin Stoff (Edge of Tomorrow, Unbroken, Constantine). Hans Zimmer will serve as the executive music producer on the project.

Hans Zimmer European Live Tour Announced
Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer has announced his first live tour. The concerts will feature a 20-piece studio band, alongside singer Lebo M (The Lion King, The Power of One), as well as an orchestra and choir. The tour will kick off in London on April 6, 2016 and will be taking in 18 cities, including Birmingham, Brussels, Hamburg, Berlin, Paris, Munich, Krakow, Bratislava, Prague, Zurich, Budapest, Vienna and Sofia in total for the following six weeks. Zimmer previously performed his music at two Hans Zimmer Revealed shows at London’s Hammersmith Apollo in 2014.

Expected to top the weekend box office is the sci-fi action adventure The Martian directed by Ridley Scott and starring Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Pena, Kate Mara, Sean Bean, Kristen Wiig, Mackenzie Davis and Donald Glover. The film’s original music is composed by Harry Gregson-Williams (Kingdom of Heaven, The Chronicles of Narnia). Columbia Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. ‘Freeheld’ Soundtrack Details
WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for the drama Freeheld. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Inception, The Lion King, Gladiator, Interstellar) and The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. The soundtrack will be released digitally on September 25, 2015 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Freeheld is directed by Peter Sollett and stars Julianne Moore, Ellen Page, Michael Shannon and Steve Carell. The movie movie tells the story of Laurel Helster, a New Jersey police officer and her girlfriend who both battle to secure Hester’s pension benefits after she’s diagnosed with a terminal illness. The drama premiered this past week at the Toronto Film Festival and will be released on October 2 by Lionsgate.
Hans Zimmer to Score Gore Verbinski’s ‘A Cure for Wellness’
Hans Zimmer is set to reunite with director Gore Verbinski on the upcoming supernatural horror project A Cure for Wellness. The film stars Dane DeHaan, Jason Isaacs, Mia Goth and Celia Imrie. The movie follows a worker who is sent to rescue his boss from a European “wellness spa soon” and realizes that he’s trapped and discovers that the facility has a more sinister purpose than just serving the healthy needs of it patients. Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road, Snitch) has written the screenplay.
Hans Zimmer to Compose Main Theme for Nat Geo’s ‘Saints & Strangers’
National Geographic Channel announced at a panel yesterday at the Television Critics Association summer tour that Hans Zimmer will be composing the main theme for network’s upcoming event series Saints & Strangers. The score will be composed by Bleeding Fingers Music, a collaboration between Zimmer and Extreme Music. Saints & Strangers is created by Eric Overmyer (Bosch, Treme, The Affair) and tells the story behind the founding of America, chronicling the trials and tribulations of the 101 men, women and children who boarded the Mayflower for a one-way trip to the New World in 1620.
‘The Little Prince’ Soundtrack Details
Because Music will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature The Little Prince. The album features the film’s original music composed by Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Inception) and Richard Harvey (Luther). Also included are three original songs performed by French singer/songwriter Camille. The soundtrack will be released overseas on July 24, 2015. ‘Woman in Gold’ Soundtrack Details
Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the drama Woman in Gold. The album features the film’s original music composed by Martin Phipps (Brighton Rock, Harry Brown) and Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Inception, Gladiator, Interstellar). The soundtrack will be released overseas on May 29, 2015. No word yet on a domestic release date. Woman in Gold is directed by Simon Curtis and stars Helen Mirren, Ryan Reynolds, Daniel Bruhl, Katie Holmes, Charles Dance, Elizabeth McGovern and Frances Fisher. The movie follows an elderly Jewish woman who fled Vienna during World War II and, sixty years later, starts her journey to retrieve family possessions seized by the Nazis.

Hans Zimmer is currently recording his score for the upcoming indie drama Freeheld. The film is directed by Peter Sollett (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Raising Victor Vargas) and stars Julianne Moore, Ellen Page, Steve Carell, Michael Shannon, Gabriel Luno and Luke Grimes. The movie follows New Jersey police officer Laurel Hester and her police detective girlfriend who both battle to secure Hester’s pension benefits after she’s diagnosed with a terminal illness. Oscar nominee Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia, The Painted Veil) has written the screenplay. Michael Shamberg & Stacey Sher (Erin Brokovich, Django Unchained, Get Shorty) are producing the project with Page, Kelly Bush, James D. Stern (Looper, I’m Not There), Richard Fischoff, Duncan Montgomery, Jack Selby and Cynthia Wade.

Premiering tonight is the NBC event series A.D. executive produced by Mark Burnett & Roma Downey and starring Juan Pablo di Pace, Vincent Regan, Greta Scacchi, Aniss Elkohen, Richard Coyle, Babou Ceesay, Chipo Chung, Cesare Taurasi and Adam Levy. Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Gladiator, The Lion King) and Lorne Balfe (Home, Penguins of Madagascar) have composed the music for the 12-parter.
