Blake Neely has scored the pilot for the CBS drama The Advocates. The show is created by Bruno Heller (Rome) and stars Ben McKenzie and Mandy Moore. The project follows a lawyer and an ex-con who team up as “victim advocates”, going to the edge of the law to right wrongs and fight for the underdog. David Nutter (Disturbing Behavior) directed the pilot episode and is also executive producing the Warner Bros. Television production with Heller. Neely has previously collaborated with Heller on the long-running CBS hit drama The Mentalist, which has already been renewed for a sixth season. The network is expected to announce shortly if The Advocates will be picked up to series.

iZLER Scoring ‘Reckless’ and ‘Boomerang’ Pilots
iZLER has been tapped to score the CBS drama pilot Reckless. The show is created by Dana Stevens (What About Brian, screenwriter of City of Angels & For the Love of the Game) and stars Anna Wood, Cam Gigandet, Shawn Hatosy, Michael Gladis and Adam Rodrigues. The legal drama is set in Charleston, South Carolina and follows a Yankee litigator a Southern City Attorney who struggle to hide their intense attraction while clashing over a police sex scandal. Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Thirteen) directed the pilot episode. Ian Sander and Kim Moses (Ghost Whisperer, Profiler) are executive producing the CBS Television Studios production with Stevens.
‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Soundtrack Announced
101 Distribution/EMI will release a soundtrack album for the CBS drama NCIS: Los Angeles. The album features songs from the series by artists including Daughtry, The Wild Feathers, LL Cool J, Ice Cube, Ryan Bingham, Jakob Dylan, Little Dragon, Caro Emerald, Taio Cruz, Jim Hanft, Allen Stone, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Adrian Lux. The soundtrack will be released on April 16, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. NCIS: Los Angeles created by Shane Brennan stars Chris O’Donnell, LL Cool J,, Daniela Ruah, Barrett Foa, Eric Christian Olsen, Renee Felice Smith and Linda Hunt. The show’s fourth season currently airs every Tuesday night on CBS.
Robert Duncan to Score ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ TV Show
Robert Duncan is composing the score for the pilot of the new CBS show Beverly Hills Cop. The project is a continuation of the film franchise and stars Brandon T. Jackson as the police officer son of Axel Foley, played by Eddie Murphy, who takes down the criminal elements of the rich and famous in Beverly Hills while working to escape his famous father’s shadow. Murphy is expected to recur if the project goes to series. Christine Lahti, David Denman, Kevin Pollak and Sheila Vand are co-starring. Shawn Ryan (The Shield) has written the pilot and is executive producing the Sony Pictures Television production with Murphy and Marney Hochman. Duncan has previously collaborated with Ryan on such shows as The Unit, Terriers, The Chicago Code and most recently, Last Resort.
Blake Neely Scoring ‘Golden Boy’
Blake Neely has composed the score for the new CBS cop drama Golden Boy. The show is created by Nicholas Wootton (NYPD Blue, Chuck) and stars Theo James, Chi McBride, Kevin Alejandro, Bonnie Somerville, Holt McCallany and Stella Maeve. The series follows an ambitious cop who becomes the youngest police commissioner in the history of New York City. Wootton is also executive producing the show Greg Berlanti who has previously worked with Neely numerous times on such shows as Everwood, Brothers & Sisters, Political Animals and the feature film Life as We Know It. Richard Shepard (The Hunting Party, The Matador) has directed the pilot episode and also serves as a producer. Golden Boy is set to premiere on February 26, 2013 and will air every Tuesday night on CBS.

Airing tonight is the 100th episode of the CBS hit drama The Mentalist. Blake Neely (Arrow, The Pacific) has been written the music for the entire series, beginning with the pilot episode in 2008. For the landmark episode – a flashback to the main character Patrick Jane’s (played by Simon Baker) first few days in the California Bureau of Investigation – Neely’s score employs a poetic 100 different instruments, and treats central character themes like debut statements. Neely’s music is mainly electronic, with live instruments layered in. Neely’s palette for the series has been defined both by musical voices he chooses not to include (brass, clarinet), as well as the use of several unorthodox instruments. The 100th episode of The Mentalist airs tonight on CBS.

‘How I Met Your Mother’ Soundtrack Released
20th Century Fox TV Records has released the first soundtrack album for the long-running hit comedy How I Met Your Mother. The album features the songs from the show performed by the show’s cast members Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel, Josh Radnor and Cobie Smulders, including the Emmy-nominated track Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit. Also featured is the comedy’s main title theme Hey Beautiful by The Solids. The soundtrack album, which is entitled How I Met Your Music, is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips from all 20 tracks on the release. How I Met Your Mother created by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas is returned last night, September 24 for its eighth season and will be airing every Monday night on CBS.
David Carbonara Scoring the CBS Drama ‘Vegas’
David Carbonara is the composer of the new CBS period drama Vegas. The series is created by Nicholas Pileggi (Goodfellas, Casino) & Greg Walker and stars Dennis Quaid as Sheriff Ralph Lamb and Michael Chiklis as Chicago mobster Vincent Savino. Carrie-Anne Moss, Jason O’Mara and Taylor Handley are co-starring in the show, which is set in 1960s Las Vegas as it begins its rise as a gambling and entertainment mecca. James Mangold (Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma) has directed the pilot episode and is also executive producing the CBS Television Studios production with his producing partner Cathy Konrad (Scream), Pileggi, Walker and Arthur Sarkissian (Rush Hour trilogy). The show marks Carbonara’s first TV scoring assignment since the critically acclaimed and multiple Emmy Award-winning AMC drama Mad Men.
Stephen Endelman Scoring ‘Made in Jersey’
Stephen Endelman is scoring the new CBS drama Made in Jersey. The legal show is created by Dana Calvo (writer on Covert Affairs and Greek) and stars Janet Montgomery as young working-class woman from New Jersey who uses her street smarts to succeed at a top New York law firm. Kyle MacLachlan, Stephanie March, Toni Trucks, Donna Murphy, Erin Cummings and Kristoffer Polaha are co-starring. Mark Waters (Mean Girls, The Spiderwick Chronicles) has directed the pilot episode and is also executive producing the series with Kevin Falls (Franklin & Bash, Journeyman), Jamie Tarses (Happy Endings) and Julia Franz (Men at Work).
