Adrian Johnston is composing the music for the upcoming horror thriller The Strangers: Prey at Night. The film is directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, The Other Side of the Door) and stars Christina Hendricks, Martin Henderson, Bailee Madison and Lewis Pullman. The movie is inspired by the 2008 feature The Strangers and follows a family that is staying in a secluded mobile home park for the night and is visited by three masked psychopaths. Bryan Bertino who helmed the original movie & Ben Ketai (The Forest, StartUp) wrote the screenplay.

Adrian Johnston Scoring BBC’s ‘The Child in Time’
Adrian Johnston is scoring the upcoming BBC drama The Child in Time. The movie is directed by Julian Farino (The Oranges) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Kelly Macdonald, Stephen Campbell Moore and Saskia Reeves. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Ian McEwan (Atonement) and centers around children’s author Stephen Lewis who struggles to find purpose in life following the disappearance of his daughter two years earlier. Stephen Butchard (The Last Kingdom) wrote the script is also executive producing the Pinewood Television and SunnyMarch TV production with Cumberbatch, Helen Gregory, Lucy Richer, Rebecca Eaton, David Boulter and Adam Ackland.
Adrian Johnston Scoring BBC’s ‘Cormoran Strike’
Adrian Johnston has been tapped to score the upcoming BBC limited series Cormoran Strike. The show is based J.K. Rowling’s bestselling crime novels, which she wrote under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, and stars Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger. The drama centers on a war veteran turned private detective operating out of a tiny office in London’s Denmark Street. The series comprises of The Cuckoo’s Calling, with three hour-long episodes and The Silkworm and Career of Evil, both with two hour-long episodes. Rowling is also executive producing the project with Neil Blair (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Ruth Kenley-Letts and Elizabeth Kilgarriff (Poldark, Call the Midwife).

Premiering today in the U.S. is the British/French TV series The Tunnel based on the Scandinavian drama The Bridge and starring Stephen Dillane and Clémence Poésy. The music from the show’s first season is composed by Adrian Johnston (Becoming Jane, Kinky Boots, Bridesheads Revisited, Dancing on the Edge) and the second season is scored by Ben Bartlett (Walking with Dinosaurs, The Mark of Cain). The drama follows two detectives working together to find a serial killer who left the upper-half body of a French politician and the lower-half of a British prostitute in the Channel Tunnel. Premiering tomorrow, June 20, is the documentary Suited directed by Jason Benjamin and produced by Lena Dunham. Owen Pallett (Her, Life, The Box) has composed the film’s original music. The movie centers on Bindle & Keep, a Brooklyn tailoring company that is known for making custom suits for a growing legion of gender-nonconforming clients. BBC’s ‘Close to the Enemy’ to Feature Music by Adrian Johnston
Adrian Johnston has been tapped to score the upcoming BBC original mini-series Close to the Enemy. The 6-parter is created by Stephen Poliakoff and stars Jim Sturgess, Freddie Highmore, Charlotte Riley, Alfie Allen, Charity Wakefield, Angela Bassett and Alfred Molina. The series is set during World War II and follows a British intelligence officer whose final task for the Army is to convince a captured German scientis to hand over cutting-edge military technology crucial to national security – the jet engine. Poliakoff has written and directed all episodes. Helen Flint (Longford), Hilary Bevan Jones (Pirate Radio) and Colin Callender (Wolf Hall) are producing the project.
Adrian Johnston to Score ITV’s & PBS’ ‘Churchill’s Secret’
Adrian Johnston is reuniting with director Charles Sturridge on the upcoming ITV/PBS movie Churchill’s Secret. The film is adapted by Stewart Harcourt (Treasure Island, Poirot) from Jonathan Smith’s book The Churchill Secret: KBO and stars Michael Gambon as Sir Winston Churchill, Lindsay Duncan as Clementine Churchill, as well as Romola Garai, Matthew Macfayden, Bill Paterson, Daisy Lewis, Tara Fitzgerald, James Wilby and Rachel Stirling. The drama is told from the point of view of Churchill’s nurse Millie Appleyard and follows the British Prime Minister’s battle to recover from a stroke in 1953, as his wife hopes it will force him to retire, and his political friends and foe strategize as to who will succeed him.

Premiering tonight is the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie One Christmas Eve directed by Jay Russell and starring Anne Heche. The film’s original music is composed by William Ross (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, The Tale of Desperaux) who previously scored Russell’s Ladder 49, My Dog Skip and Tuck Everlasting and Jerome Leroy. Momentum RLP Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score earlier this week. Premiering on Tuesday, December 2, is the Disney/Pixar holiday special Toy Story That Time Forgot directed by Steve Purcell and featuring the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Kristen Schaal, Kevin McKidd, Wallace Shawn, Timothy Dalton, Don Rickles and Joan Cusack. Michael Giacchino (Star Trek, Lost, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) who previously scored last year’s Toy Story of Terror, as well as Pixar’s The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up and Cars 2 has composed the special’s original music. Adrian Johnston Scoring ‘Klondike’ Miniseries
Adrian Johnston has composed the music for Discovery Channel’s miniseries Klondike. The six-parter is directed by Simon Cellan Jones and stars Richard Madden, Sam Shepard, Abbie Cornish, Ian Hart, Johnny Simmons, Conor Leslie, Tim Roth, Augustus Prew, Marton Csokas and Tim Blake Nelson. The series is based on Charlotte Gray’s novel Gold Diggers: Striking It Rich in the Klondike and follows six strangers and their collective fight for survival and wealth in a small frontier town in the remote Klondike. Paul Scheuring (Prison Break) is the primary writer and also serves as executive producer, along with Ridley Scott and David W. Zucker (The Good Wife) from Scott Free, as well as John Morayniss & Michael Rosenberg (Hung) for eOne.
