Premiering on Thursday, October 17, on ABC is the Halloween special Toy Story of Terror directed by Angus MacLane and featuring the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, Timothy Dalton, Kristen Schaal and Carl Weathers. Michael Giacchino (Up, Ratatouille, The Incredibles) has composed the music for the short. Walt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score on Tuesday, October 15. Weekly TV Music Roundup (September 15, 2013)
Premiering tomorrow, September 16, on Fox is the new mystery adventure drama Sleepy Hollow created by Alex Kurtzman & Bob Orci (Star Trek, Transformers), Len Wiseman (Underworld, Live Free or Die Hard) & Phillip Iscove and starring Tom Mison, Nicole Beharie, Orlando Jones, John Cho and Katia Winter. Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Fast Five, Now You See Me) is composing the score for the series, which is based on The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow and follows Ichabod Crane as he partners with Sleepy Hollow’s Detective Abbie Archer to solve the mysteries of a town ravaged by the battle between good and evil. ‘Dancing on the Edge’ Soundtrack Announced
Decca Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC original mini-series Dancing on the Edge. The album features the features the series’ original score composed by Adrian Johnston (Becoming Jane, Kinky Boots). The soundtrack will be released in the UK on January 14, 2013. Dancing on the Edge is written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff who has previously collaborated with Johnston a number of times and stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Wunmi Mosaku, Angel Coulby and John Goodman. The five-part series produced by Nicky Kentish Barnes (Match Point, About A Boy) follows the Louis Lester Band as they find fame amongst the parties and performances of upper class society in the capital. The BBC production will premiere in January 2013 on BBC2.
Adrian Johnston Scoring ‘Dancing on the Edge’
Adrian Johnston is scoring the upcoming BBC original series Dancing on the Edge. The dramatic comedy follows the Louis Lester Band as they find fame amongst the parties and performances of upper class society in the capital. Nicky Kentish Barnes (Match Point, About A Boy) is producing the project and Alison Owen and Paul Trijbits are executive producing.
Stephen Warbeck to Score ‘Henry IV’
Stephen Warbeck is currently recording his score for the upcoming BBC adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play Henry IV. The television production is directed by Richard Eyre (Notes on a Scandal, Iris) and stars Jeremy Irons in the title role, as well as Tom Hiddleston as Prince Hal and Simon Russell Beale as Falstaff. Sam Mendes (American Beauty), Neal Street Production’s Pippa Harris (Starter for Ten) and NBC Universal’s Gareth Neame (Downtown Abbey) are executive producing and Rupert Ryle-Hodges (Cranford) is co-producing the project. Warbeck has previously scored the Eyre’s drama The Other Man starring Laura Linney and Antonio Banderas. Henry IV is one of BBC’s three new adaptations of Shakespeare’s second historical tetralogy and will be premiering in two parts this summer in the UK to coincide with the 2012 Cultural Olympiad – the largest celebration of culture in the history of the modern Olympics and Paralympics.
