The film marks the feature directorial debut of actresses Stephanie Allynne & Tig Notaro and stars Dakota Johnson, Sonoya Mizuno, Jermaine Fowler, Kiersey Clemons, Molly Gordon and Sean Hayes. Nominations for 3rd Annual SCL Awards Announced

The Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) has announced the nominees for the 3rd Annual SCL Awards, which will take place on February 1st at the Skirball Cultural Center. The evening will be hosted by Darren Criss will include musical performances from Grammy-nominated singers/songwriters Abigail Barlow & Emily Bear (Bridgerton: The Unofficial Musica;), Grammy winner Judith Hill, and more. Carter Burwell and Joel Coen & Ethan Coen who have collaborated on 17 films (including last year’s The Tragedy of Macbeth directed and adapted by Joel Coen) will receive the Spirit of Collaboration Award, which is  presented to a composer and filmmaker who have had an enduring and distinguished creative partnership representing a significant body of work. Geoff Barrow & Ben Salisbury (Ex Machina, Annihilation, Devs, Hanna, Luce, Free Fire) are the composers of the new Netflix original series Archive 81. The show is inspired by the popular horror podcast of the same name and stars Mamoudou Athie, Dina Shihabi, Evan Jonigkeit, Matt McGorry, Martin Donovan, Julia Chan and Ariana Neal. The supernatural thriller follows an archivist who takes a job restoring damaged videotapes and gets pulled into the vortex of a mystery involving the missing director and a demonic cult. The track written by the show’s composer Mike Barnett, with lyrics by Barnett, Dena Diamond & Shea Fontana and vocals by Barnett & Keira Moran is now available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. Son Lux are providing the original music for the upcoming sci-fi adventure comedy Everything Everywhere All at Once. The film is directed by Daniels (aka Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert (Swiss Army Man, The Death of Dick Long) and stars Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, Stephanie Hsu, Jenny Slate, James Hong, Harry Shum Jr. and Jamie Lee Curtis. The movie revolves around an exhausted Chinese American woman who can’t seem to finish her taxes. Kwan and Scheinert are also producing the project with Jonathan Wang (False Positive), as well as AGBO’s Anthony & Joe Russo (Avengers: Endgame, Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and Mike Larocca (21 Bridges, Extraction). The film is directed by Sophie Hyde (52 Tuesdays, Animals) and stars Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack. The movie follows a retired school teacher yearning for some adventure, human connection and good sex who devises a plan and hires the services of a young sex worker for a night of bliss. Ankama Studio has released a soundtrack album for the French animated feature Princess Dragon (Princesse Dragon). The album features the original songs from the film by French singer/songwriter Pomme, as well as the movie’s original score composed by Pierre-Jean Beaudoin . The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on iTunes/Apple Music, where you can also check out the full track list and listen to audio samples. Princess Dragon is directed by Anthony Roux & Jean-Jacques Denis and tells the story of little girl who was raised by dragons and embarks on a journey of discovery into the world of humans. Premiering in the U.S. today is the new television adaptation of Jules Verne’s classic adventure novel Around the World in 80 Days developed by Ashley Pharoah & Caleb Ranson and starring David Tennant, Ibrahim Koma and Leonie Benesch. The show’s original score is composed by Christian Lundberg (Snatch, Earth at Night in Color, Eleven Eleven). Hans Zimmer (Inception, The Dark Knight, Gladiator, The Lion King) has contributed the main title theme. The adventure drama, which follows Phileas Fogg as he sets out on a quest to travel around the world, premiered in the UK last week on BBC One and is making its U.S. debut on PBS as part of the Masterpiece series.

Premiering tomorrow, January 3, is the Fox drama The Cleaning Lady developed by Miranda Kwok based on the Argentine series La Chica Que Limpia and starring Élodie Yung, Adan Canto, Oliver Hudson, Martha Millan, Faith Bryant, Sebastien & Valentino LaSalle and Sean Le. Mark Isham (Crash, A River Runs Through It, Once Upon a TimeMiracle, The AccountantJudas and the Black Messiah) is composing the show’s original music.
