‘Hollywood Bowl 2022 Season Schedule Announced’

hollywood-bowlThe Hollywood Bowl has announced this summer’s season schedule, which includes a number of film music concerts. On June 30, CineConcerts will present Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 in Concert with the Los Angeles Philharmonic performing Alexandre Desplat’s score live-to-picture (click here for more details). On August 5 & 6, David Newman will conduct the LA Philharmonic for two live-to-picture concerts of Alan Silvestri’s score for Back to the Future (click here for more information). On July 24, Craig Robinson will host Black Movie Soundtrack IV with Orchestra, the fourth installation of the concert series curated by Reginald Hudlin and Marcus Miller (visit the Bowl’s website for more details). John Williams will also return to the Bowl on September 2, 3 & 4 for the concert Maestro of the Movies – Celebrating John Williams at 90. Pathé Films has released released new soundtrack albums for two classic French films featuring music by Philippe Sarde (The Tenant, Barocco, Quest for Fire, Lord of the Flies, Ghost Story, Pirates, Nelly & Monsieur Arnaud). Available to stream/download now on all major digital music services is the composer’s Academy Award-nominated score for Roman Polanski’s 1979 drama Tess based on Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the d’Urbervilles and starring Nastassja Kinski, Peter Firth, Leigh Lawson, John Collin, Martin, Carolyn Pickles and Richard Pearson, as well his music for Jean-Jacques Annaud’s 1988 adventure drama The Bear (L’ours) based on James Oliver Curwood’s novel The Grizzly King and starring Bart the Bear, Youk the Bear, Tcheky, Karyo, Jack Wallace and Andre Lacombe. Lakeshore Records will release a new soundtrack album for the USA original series The Sinner. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second, third and fourth seasons composed by Ronit Kirchman (Eagle Eye, Limetown). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, February 18 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A first track (Spiral) is already available to stream/download now and can be checked out after the jump. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s score from Season 1 back in 2018. The Sinner is developed by Derek Simonds based on the 1999 novel of the same title by Petra Hammesfahr and stars Bill Pullman as Det. Harry Ambrose. Read the rest of this entry »

Sean Callery (24, Jessica Jones, Homeland, La Femme Nikita, Inhumans) is scoring the upcoming Paramount+ original series HALO. The show is based on the iconic Xbox franchise and stars Pablo Schreiber, Jen Taylor, Natascha McElhone, Shabana Azmi, Bokeem Woodbine, Natasha Culzac, Yerin Ha, Olive Gray, Bentley Kalu and Kate Kennedy. Milan Records has released the original song Sassy on Sunday from last night’s Season 2 episode And Infants Shall Rule Over Them of the HBO original series The Righteous Gemstones. The track is written by Jennifer Nettles and series composer Joseph Stephens (Vice Principals, Observe and Report, Eastbound & Down, Never Have I Ever, Flower) and performed by Nettles as her character Aimee-Leigh Gemstone. The song is now available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. Also listen to the full track below. Natalie Holt (Loki, HerselfKnightfall, Journey’s End, Fever Dream, Beecham HousePress) has been hired to score the upcoming thriller Cocaine Bear. The film is directed by Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect 2, Charlie’s Angels) and stars Keri Russell, O’Shea Jackson, Ray Liotta, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Alden Ehrenreich, Margo Martindale, Kristofer Hivju, Brooklynn Prince, Christian Convery, Kahyun Kim and Scott Seiss. The movie is inspired by true events, which took place in Kentucky in 1985, involving a real-life 175-pound bear who died of an apparent cocaine overdose. Propeller Recordings has released a soundtrack album for the Norwegian comedy Ninjababy. The album features the film’s original music composed by Kåre Chr. Vestrheim (In Order of Disappearance, Two Buddies and a Badger, Women in Oversized Men’s Shirts). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon (and any other major digital music services), where you can also check out audio samples. Ninjababy is co-written and directed by Yngvild Sve Flikke and stars Kristine Kujath Thorp, Arthur Berning, Nader Khademi and Tora Christine Dietrichson. Premiering tonight is the Peacock original series Bel-Air based on the classic 80s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and starring Jabari Banks, Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, O Coco Jones, lly Sholotan, Akira Akbar, Jordan L. Jones, Jimmy Akingbola and Simone Joy Jones. The show’s original music is composed by Terrace Martin and Robert Glasper (Miles AheadThe Photograph). The rest of the season will debut weekly every Thursday on Peacock.

Premiering on Thursday, February 17, is the Paramount+ animated series Big Nate based on the best-selling children’s books written and drawn by Lincoln Peirce and starring Ben Giroux, Rob Delaney, Dove Cameron, Arnie Pantoja, Daniel MK Cohen, Charlie Schlatter, Bryce Charles, Kevin M Richardson and Carolyn Hennessy. Frederik Wiedmann (The Dragon Prince, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Field of Lost Shoes, Occupation: Rainfall, HangmanDoom: Annihilation) is composing the show’s original music. The Nickelodeon Animation Studios production, which follows an 11-year-old boy and his best friends as they navigate sixth grade with humor and style, will be available to stream on Paramount+.
