Composer Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of NarniaShrek,Man on FireMulanThe Meg,  Chicken Run) is reteaming with director Ridley Scott (Alien, Gladiator) on the upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller The Dog Stars. The film starring Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin and Margaret Qualley follows a civilian pilot and ex-Marine as they navigate the aftermath of a pandemic that has wiped out nearly the entire population. Mark L. Smith (The Revenant, Twisters) wrote the screenplay based on the novel of the same title by Peter Heller. Scott & Smith are also producing the project with Michael Pruss (Alien: Romulus, Napoleon) and Cliff Roberts (The Midnight Sky, Untamed). Gregson-Williams has previously scored Scott’s Kingdom of HeavenThe MartianThe Last DuelHouse of Gucci & Gladiator II and also contributed music to the director’s Prometheus and Exodus: Gods and Kings. The Dog Stars will be released in theaters nationwide on August 28, 2026 by 20th Century Studios.

Gregson-Williams’ other recent feature projects also include Ben Wheatley’s Normal (co-scored with Ryder McNair), which is opening in theaters this weekend. He also continue to co-score HBO’s The Gilded Age (with his brother Rupert), which will return for a fourth season.
