Alexandre Desplat is set to reteam with Wes Anderson on the director’s next feature, Asteroid City. The film is written and directed by Anderson and stars Tom Hanks, Margot Robbie, Scarlett Johansson, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Sophia Lillis, Bill Murray, Maya Hawke, Bryan Cranston, Fisher Stevens, Jake Ryan, Jeffrey Wright, Liev Schreiber, Rupert Friend, Jeff Goldblum, Hope Davis, Matt Dillon, Jason Schwartzman and Tony Revolori. Singer/songwriter David Longstreth, best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the band Dirty Projectors, is set to make his feature film scoring debut on the upcoming fantasy epic The Legend of Ochi. The film will be directed by Isaiah Saxon and star Willem Dafoe, Emily Watson, Finn Wolfhard and Helena Zengel. The movie centers on a young girl who runs away from home and learns to communicate with an elusive animal species known as OCHI. Saxon is also producing the project for Encyclopedia Pictura, alongside Traci Carlson (Menashe) & Richard Peete (Blue Ruin, Super Dark Times) for Neighborhood Watch and Jonathan Wang (Swiss Army Man, The Death of Dick Long) for Year of the Rat. The album features the film’s original music composed by Andre Matthias (Gaza mon amour, Pursuit of Love, Centaur, Control). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, November 12 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The full details of the soundtrack album for Jane Campion’s western The Power of the Dog have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Jonny Greenwood (Phantom Thread, There Will Be Blood, Spencer, Inherent Vice, The Master). The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 17 by Lakeshore and INVADA Records and is now available for pre-order here. Two first tracks have been released as a digital single last month (listen to both tracks after the jump). Republic Records will release the official soundtrack album for Paul Thomas Anderson’s coming-of-age comedy drama Licorice Pizza. The album features a selection of the songs from the movie by artists including Nina Simone, David Bowie, The Doors, Sonny & Cher, Chuck Berry, Donovan, Paul McCartney, Gordon Lightfoot, Taj Mahal, Mason Williams & others. Also included is a track from the movie’s original score composed by Jonny Greenwood who previously scored the director’s last four features, There Will Be Blood, The Master, Inherent Vice and Phantom Thread. Roy Mayorga, drummer of Ministry, Hellyeah and Stone Sour, has announced that he has composed the original score for the upcoming horror comedy Studio 666. John Carpenter (Halloween, Assault on Precint 13, The Fog) has written the theme song for the the film, which is directed by BJ McDonnell (Slayer: The Repentless Killogy, Hatched III) and stars all six members of the Foo Fighters (Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Pat Smear, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett & Rami Jaffee), as well as Whitney Cummings, Leslie Grossman, Will Forte, Jenna Ortega and Jeff Garlin. The movie follows the Foo Fighters as they move into a haunted San Fernando Valley mansion to record 2021’s Medicine at Midnight, when they find themselves grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band.
