Rob Lewis has released a soundtrack album for the Hulu original documentary Dead Asleep. The album features the composer’s original music from the film and is now available to stream/download on Amazon (or any other major digital music services), where you can also check out audio clips. Dead Asleep is directed by Skye Borgman (Abducted in Plain Sight) and explores the case of Randy Herman Jr., a young Florida man convicted of murdering his roommate…while sleepwalking. The Pulse Films production features footage of Herman and his family, the defense and prosecution attorneys, forensic psychiatrists, journalists who covered the case, and world experts in violent parasomnia. Este Haim (of HAIM) & Chris Stracey have made their feature film scoring debut on the upcoming comedy drama Cha Cha Real Smooth. The film is written and directed by Cooper Raiff (Shithouse) and stars Dakota Johnson, Raiff himself, Vanessa Burghardt, Evan Assante, Brad Garrett and Leslie Mann. The movie revolves around a young man who works as a Bar Mitzvah party host and strikes up a friendship with a mother and her autistic daughter. The album features the film’s original music composed by Arthur Simonini (Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Hibou). Premiering tonight is the HBO original series Somebody Somewhere created by Hannah Bos & Paul Thureen and starring Bridget Everett, Jeff Hiller, Mary Catherine Garrison, Mike Hagerty, Danny McCarthy, Murray Hill add Jon Hudson Odom. The show’s original score is composed by Amanda Jones (Naomi, Twenties, Good Trouble, Adventure Time: Distant Lands, Cherish the Day). The comedy, which centers on a true Kansan on the surface who struggles to fit the hometown mold, will air every Sunday night on HBO and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.

Premiering on Tuesday, January 18, is the Hulu original series How I Met Your Father developed by Isaac Aptaker & Elizabeth Berger and starring Hilary Duff, Kim Cattrall, Francia Raisa, Chris Lowell, Suraj Sharma, Tom Ainsley and Tien Tran. Jeff Cardoni (Silicon Valley, The Kominsky Method, CSI: Miami, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Heels) is composing the show’s original score. The comedy is a sequel to CBS’ How I Met Your Mother (scored by John Swihart) and follows a woman who is telling her son the story of how she met his father at a time when herself and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are. Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the slasher movie Scream directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett and starring Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Mikey Madison, Marley Shelton, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sonia Ammar, as well as Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette. The film’s original music is composed by Brian Tyler (Fast & FuriousAvengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3, Crazy Rich Asians, Yellowstone, Now You See Me, Thor: The Dark World). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last Friday. Also opening wide this week is the Japanese animated feature Belle directed by Mamoru Hosoda and starring Paul Castro Jr.,  Jessica DiCicco, Chace Crawford, Brandon Engman, Manny Jacinto, Hunter Schafer and Cristina Vee Valenzuela. Taisei IwasakiLudvig Forssell (Death Stranding) and Yuta Bandoh (It Comes), among others, have composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released two soundtrack album featuring the songs (in Japanese and English) and score from the movie. Gary Lionelli (O.J.: Made in America, Luck, Chasing the Moon, The Newspaperman, Nuclear Family) has composed the original music for the upcoming Netflix original documentary Downfall: The Case Against Boeing. The film is directed by Rory Kennedy (Take Every Wave: The Life of Laird Hamilton, Ethel) and centers on the investigation into the crashes of Lion Air Flight 610 and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 after two Boeing 737 MAX jets crash less than five months apart in 2018/2019. Atlantic Screen Music/Filmtrax will release the official soundtrack album for the sci-fi disaster movie Moonfall. The album features the film’s original music composed by Thomas Wander & Harald Kloser (2012, The Day After Tomorrow, Midway, White House Down, Independence Day: Resurgence, 10,000 BC). The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 4, 2022 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Moonfall is co-written (with Kloser & Spenser Cohen) and directed by Roland Emmerich and stars Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, John Bradley, Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Eme Ikwuakor, Kelly Yu, Carolina Bartczak and Donald Sutherland. The Centropolis Entertainment production takes place after a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it and follows a NASA executive and former astronaut who is convinced she has the key to save humanity, but only one astronaut from her past and a conspiracy theorist believes her.
