Premiering on Tuesday, March 15, is the HBO documentary Phoenix Rising directed by Amy Berg about actress Evan Rachel Wood’s recent efforts as an activist pushing for an extension of the statute of limitations for domestic violence cases and the coalition she builds at The Phoenix Act. The film’s original music is composed by Aska Matsumiya (Bruised, Betty, I’m Your Woman, Skate Kitchen, Selah and the Spades). Premiering on Thursday, March 17, is the Netflix original film Rescued by Ruby directed by Katt Shea and starring Grant Gustin, Scott Wolf, Kaylah Zander, Camille Sullivan, Tom McBeath, Sharon Taylor and Eileen Pedde. Joy Ngiaw (Blush, June & Kopi, Short Circuit: Jing Hua) has composed the movie’s original music. Hans Zimmer Wins BAFTA Award for ‘Dune’ Score

Hans Zimmer has received his first BAFTA Award for his music for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune in the Original Score category at today’s 2022  EE British Academy Film Awards ceremony in London. He has previously been nominated numerous times for such films as The Lion King, Thelma & Louise, Gladiator, The Dark Knight,Inception, 12 Years a Slave, Interstellar, Dunkirk and Blade Runner 2049. The composer is also nominated for an Academy Award for his Dune score. The other composers nominated in the category were Daniel Pemberton (Being the Ricardos), Nicholas Britell (Don’t Look Up), Alexandre Desplat (The French Dispatch) and Jonny Greenwood (The Power of the Dog).

Lin-Manuel Miranda & Germaine Franco were honored with the Annie Award in the Best Music – Feature category for their music from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto at tonight’s (virtual) 49th Annie Awards ceremony. The other contenders in the category were Dan Romer for Luca, Youki Kojima & Yuta Bandoh for Poupelle of Chimney Town, James Newton Howard & Jhené Aiko for Raya and the Last Dragon and Alex Lacamoire (& Miranda) for Vivo. Franco has previously received an Annie Award as part of the music team of Pixar’s 2017 feature Coco. The album features the film’s original music composed by Nicolas Errèra (Raging Fire, ShaolinHidden Man,The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir, Adoring, Mountain Cry). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also check out the full track list and listen to audio samples. My Night is co-written and directed by Antoinette Boulat and stars Lou Lampros, Tom Mercier, Angelina Woreth, Carmen Kassovitz, Lucie Saada, Emmanuelle Bercot and Maya Sansa. Opening in select theaters while also premiering on Disney+ today is the animated feature Turning Red directed by Domee Shi and starring Rosalie Chiang and Sandra Oh. The film’s original score is composed by Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther, The Mandalorian, Creed, TenetCommunity, Venom).  Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell have contributed three original songs for the fictional boy band 4*Town  in the movie. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring both score and songs today. WaterTower Music has released two songs from the soundtrack of the seventh season of the CW drama DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Available to stream/download now on all major digital music services is the original song By My Side written and produced by the show’s co-composer Daniel James Chan (Supergirl, Emergence), featuring lyrics by Leah Poulliot and performed by Shayan Sobhian, as well as the cover version of Dead or Alive’s You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) performed by Jonathan Walton and produced by Eldad Guetta. Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album for the thriller The Outfit. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest HotelThe Shape of Water, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,The King’s SpeechThe Queen, The Imitation Game, Godzilla, Philomena). Rich Vreeland (aka Disasterpeace) (It FollowsUnder the Silver Lake, Triple Frontier) has composed the original score for the upcoming slasher movie Bodies Bodies Bodies. The film is directed by Halina Reijn (Red Light) and stars Amandla Stenberg, Maria Bakalova, Pete Davidson, Rachel Sennott, Chase Sui Wonders, Myha’la Herrold and Lee Pace. The movie follows  a group of rich 20-somethings who plan a hurricane party at a remote family mansion, when a party game turns deadly. Varese Sarabande has announced a new soundtrack album for DreamWorks Animation’s 2014 sequel How to Train Your Dragon 2 directed by Dean DeBlois and starring Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jonah Hill, T.J. Miller and Kristen Wiig. The album features the film’s expanded original score composed by Academy Award nominee John Powell (The Bourne IdentitySolo: A Star Wars Story, Happy Feet, Bolt, X-Men: The Last Stand, Shrek, Chicken Run), including previously unreleased music. The 2-CD deluxe edition set, which is limited to 2,000 copies, is now available to order on Amazon and the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples. A digital version will coming out on May 13 (click here to stream/download). The label has previously released a deluxe edition for the original How to Train Your Dragon movie in 2020. ‘X’ Soundtrack Album Details

A24 Music will release the official soundtrack album for Ti West’s horror movie X. The album features the film’s original score composed by Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool 2,Watchmen,  300John WickThe Punisher) and singer/songwriter Chelsea Wolfe. Also included is Wolfe’s cover version of Oui Oui Marie, which is already coming out as a digital single today (listen to the full track below). The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 25 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. X is written and directed by West and stars Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega, Martin Henderson, Brittany Snow, Stephen Ure, Owen Campbell and Scott Mescudi.
