WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for the HBO original series Rooster. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s first season composed record producer/songwriter Andrew Watt who has made his television scoring debut on the project. Also included is the main title theme song I Played the Fool co-written (with Watt) and performed by R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe (previously released as a digital single), as well as an instrumental version of the track. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, May 15. Rooster is created by Bill Lawrence & Matt Tarses and stars Steve Carell, Charly Clive, Danielle Deadwyler, Phil Dunster, John C. McGinley and Lauren Tsai. The comedy follows a successful author as he arrives at Ludlow College to support his daughter, an art history professor in the midst of a marital breakdown with a fellow academic. The final episode of the series premiered this past Sunday on HBO and the full first season is now available to stream on HBO Max. A second season is in the works.
