Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the survival thriller Beast directed by Baltasar Kormákur and starring Idris Elba, Sharlto Copley, Leah Sava Jeffries and Iyana Halley. The film’s original music is composed by Steven Price (Gravity, Our Planet, Last Night in Soho, Baby Driver, Suicide Squad, Fury). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score and an original song by Sona Jobarteh last Friday. Also opening wide is the anime feature Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero directed by Tetsuro Kodama and produced by Toei Animation. Naoki Sato (Space Battleship Yamato, Pretty Cure, Blood-Z, Sword of the Stranger) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score was released earlier this year when the movie opened in Japan. Opening in around 600 theaters while also coming out on VOD and premiering on Paramount+ today is the horror thriller Orphan: First Kill written by William Brent Bell and starring Isabelle Fuhrman, Rossif Sutherland and Julia Stiles. The film’s original music is composed by Brett Detar (The Devil Inside, Brahms: The Boy II, Wer, Separation). No word on a soundtrack release. Opening in limited release is the crime thriller Delia’s Gone directed by Robert Budreau and starring Stephan James, Marisa Tomei, Travis Fimmel and Paul Walter Hauser. David Braid (Born to Be Blue) has composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening in select theaters is the documentary The Territory directed by Alex Pritz about the tireless fight of the Indigenous Uru-eu-wau-wau people against the deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon. The film’s original music is composed by Katya Mihailova (Born to Be Free, The Russian Woodpecker, Freedom Fields). No soundtrack album has been released. The Darren Aronofsky-produced movie premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released by National Geographic Documentary Films and Picturehouse.

Opening in select theaters and on VOD while also premiering on AMC+ today is the comedy Spin Me Round co-directed by Jeff Baena and starring Alison Brie, Alessandro Nivola, Molly Shannon, Aubrey Plaza, Ayden Mayeri, Ben Sinclair, Zach Woods, Debby Ryan, Tim Heidecker and Fred Armisen. Pino Donaggio (Carrie, Body Double, Dressed to Kill, Blow Out, The Howling) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. Also opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD today is the Australian period drama The Legend of Molly Johnson directed by written and directed by Leah Purcell and starring Purcell herself, Sam Reid, Rob Collins and Jessica de Gouw. The film’s original music is composed by Salliana Seven Campbell. MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this year when the movie opened overseas (under the title The Drover’s Wife). Another movie opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the psychological thriller The Immaculate Room directed by Mukunda Michael Dewil and starring Emile Hirsch, Kate Bosworth, Ashley Greene Khoury and M. Emmet Walsh. Steve London (Stockholm, Love Jacked, Bank$tas, Halcyon 6) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which revolves around a seemingly perfect young couple who competes for a 5 million dollar prize by isolating themselves in an empty white room for 50 days, is being distributed by Screen Media Films.

Opening in a single theater today before premiering on Netflix next Friday, August 26, is the comedy Me Time written and directed by John Hamburg and starring Kevin Hart, Mark Wahlberg, Jimmy O. Yang, Regina Hall and Luis Gerardo Méndez. The film’s original music is composed by Jeff Cardoni (Silicon Valley, GhostsThe Kominsky Method, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, HeelsCSI: Miami).
