Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1971 Italian thriller The Fifth Cord (Giornata nera per l’ariete) co-written and directed by Luigi Bazzoni and starring Franco Nero, Silvia Monti, Edmund Purdon, Princess Ira Von Fürstenberg, Pamela Tiffin and Agostina Belli. The album features the expanded original score from the film composed by Academy Award winner Ennio Morricone (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Mission, Once Upon a Time in the West, The Untouchables, Cinema Paradiso, The Hateful Eight), including previously unreleased music. The 2-CD set, which is limited to 500 copies and includes the complete score on the first disc and the remastered original soundtrack album, as well as alternate tracks on the second disc, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the track list and listen to audio samples. Editions Musicales François has released a soundtrack album for the French drama The Child Who Measured the World (L’enfant qui mesurait le monde). The album features the film’s original music composed by Cyril Morin (Samsara, The Syrian Bride, Borgia, Last Film Show, Sira, Angry Indian Godesses). The Child Who Measured the World is directed by Takis Candilis and stars Bernard Campan, Maria Apostolakea, Fotinì Peluso and Raphaël Brottier. La-La Land Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1974 crime drama The Sugarland Express directed by Steven Spielberg (who made his theatrical feature directorial debut on the project) and starring Goldie Hawn, Ben Johnson, William Atherton and Michael Sacks. The album, which is being released released as part of the Universal Studios Film Music Classics Collection, features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Academy Award winner John Williams (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Jaws, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Schindler’s List, Catch Me If You Can, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone). The CD, which is limited to 5,000 copies, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples and find out more about the release.
