Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the supernatural horror family comedy Haunted Mansion directed by Justin Simien and starring LaKeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, Danny DeVito, Chase W. Dillon, Rosario Dawson and Jamie Lee Curtis. The film’s original score is composed by Kris Bowers (Bridgerton, Green Book, Secret InvasionKing Richard, Queen Charlotte). Also opening wide is the Australian supernatural horror thriller Talk to Me directed by Danny & Michael Philippou and starring Sophie Wilde, Alexandra Jensen, Otis Dhanji, Joe Bird and Miranda Otto. Cornel Wilczek (Clickbait, These Final Hours, Nowhere Boys) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows a group of friends who discover how to conjure spirits using an embalmed hand, premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being distributed in the U.S. by A24. Atlantic Records has released a “deluxe” version of the soundtrack album for Greta Gerwig’s fantasy comedy Barbie. The Best Weekend Ever Edition features two additional songs recorded for the movie: a cover of Matchbox Twenty’s Push produced by Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt & George Drakoulias and performed by Ryan Gosling (who stars as Ken), as well as a cover of Indigo Girls’s Closer to Fine performed by Brandi Carlile & Catherine Carlile. The track (originally written by Max Martin, Dido Armstrong & Rami Yacoub) is produced by Alana Da Fonseca, performed by the film’s cast and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. The album features the songs (including Grimes’ main title theme) and selections of the score from the first two seasons of the show. Dan Mangan (Hector and the Search for Happiness) and Ryan Carlson (Abby Hatcher, Fuzzly Catcher) composed the music for the first season and Carlson scored the second season. Republic Records: Kids & Family will release the first-ever soundtrack album for the Nickelodeon animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. The album features the updated and re-recorded score from the first season of the show (Book 1: Water) composed by Jeremy Zuckerman (The Legend of KorraScream: The TV Series, Lucky, Horse Girl) who has expanded his original compositions and employed a full orchestra for the release. The soundtrack will be released digitally and on vinyl on November 17, 2023 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Netflix Music will release a new soundtrack album for the streamer’s British original series Heartstopper. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s second season composed by Adiescar Chase (Waterloo Road, Consent). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, July 28 (visit Amazon or any other major digital music services to stream/download). The label has previously released an album featuring Chase’s music from Season 1 last year.
