‘The Lucky One’ Soundtrack Details

The details of the soundtrack for the romance The Lucky One have been revealed. The album features the film’s songs by artists including Jules Larson, Correatown, Joshua Radin, Early Winters, Voxhaul Broadcast, A Fine Frenzy, Mayfield, Ponderosa, Terrance Simien, Hilmar and Brandi Carlile. The soundtrack will be released on April 17, 2012 by Watertower Music, both digitally and as an Amazon on demand CD-R. None of Mark Isham’s original score from the movie is included on the album. The Lucky One based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook) is directed by Scott Hicks and stars Zac Efron, Taylor Schilling and Blythe Danner. Charlie Clouser is scoring the upcoming horror thriller The Collection. The movie is the sequel to the 2009 horror film The Collector and is directed by Marcus Dunstan (who also wrote the screenplay for the Clouser-scored Saw IV, V, VI and The Final Chapter). The film stars Josh Stewart, Lee Tergesen, Christopher McDonald and Emma Fitzpatrick. Dunstan has co-written the script with Patrick Melton, his writing partner on the Saw series. Brett Forbes & Patrick Rizzotti (Pride) and Julie Richardson (Collateral) are producing the film. The project marks Clouser’s first feature assignment since the final installment of the Saw series. Mickey Liddell’s LD Distribution company is planning a theatrical release later this year.

‘Hunky Dory’ Soundtrack Details

Decca Records has released a soundtrack album for the coming of age musical Hunky Dory. The album includes the film’s songs performed by cast members including Minnie Driver and features cover versions of popular tracks by David Bowie, Roxy Music, The Byrds, Beach Boys and Nick Drake. Film composer Joby Talbot (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) provided the song arrangements and also scored the movie. The soundtrack is currently available overseas and can be ordered as an import on Amazon. To listen to audio clips from all tracks on the album, click here. No word yet on a domestic release. Hunky Dory stars Minnie Driver as a drama teacher who fights sweltering heat and general teenage apathy to put on an end of year rock and roll musical version of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Aneurin Barnard, Kimberley Nixon, Robert Pugh and Steve Speirs are co-starring in the film directed by Marc Evans (Snow Cake) and produced by Jonathan Finn (Billy Elliot) and Dan Lupovitz. Marcelo Zarvos has been hired to score the upcoming and currently untitled HBO movie about Phil Spector. The film is written and directed by David Mamet (Glengarry Glenn Ross, The Untouchables) and stars Al Pacino as Spector and Helen Mirren as his defense attorney Linda Kenney Baden. The movie explores the client-attorney relationship between the legendary music producer and his attorney who represented Spector during his first trial for the murder of Lana Clarkson. Jeffrey Tambor, James Tolkan and Martin Jarvis are co-starring. Michael Hausman (Recount, The People vs. Larry Flynt) is producing the project while Barry Levinson is executive producing alongside Pacino and Mamet.  Zarvos has previously collaborated with Levinson a number of times, most recently on the sci-fi horror thriller The Bay, which is still awaiting a release date. Music Box Records has announced a soundtrack release for last year’s film adaptation of La Nouvelle Guerre des Boutons (War of the Buttons). The album includes the original score from the movie composed by Philippe Rombi (Swimming Pool). For audio clips and to pre-order the album, visit the label’s website. La Nouvelle Guerre des Boutons is directed by Christophe Barratier (The Chorus, Paris 36) and stars Laeticia Casta, Kad Merad, Guillame Canet and Gerard Jugnot. The movie was released in France last fall. The Weinstein Company has reportedly been in negotiations to pick up domestic rights for a release in the US later this year. The soundtrack details of the score release for the upcoming movie adaptation of The Hunger Games have been revealed. The album includes almost 45 minutes of the original score from the movie composed by James Newton Howard. The soundtrack will be released on March 26, 2012 by Universal Republic and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips from all tracks on the release will be added to this article in the next couple of days. A separate soundtrack album featuring the film’s songs is also being released by the label as reported in our previous article. The Hunger Games directed by Gary Ross and starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks and Woody Harrelson will be released on March 23, 2012 by Lionsgate. George Fenton is reuniting with director Ken Loach on the upcoming comedy drama The Angels’ Share. The film starring John Henshaw, William Ruane, Gary Maitland, Roger Allam,Paul Brannigan, Siobhan Reilly and Jasmin Riggins follows a new father who narrowly avoids a prison sentence and starts a whisky distillery. Frequent Loach collaborator Paul Laverty (The Wind That Shakes the Barley, Sweet Sixteen) has written the screenplay and Rebecca O’Brien (My Name is Joe) is producing the movie. Watertower Music will be releasing the official soundtrack album for the 3D fantasy film Wrath of the Titans. The album includes the original score from the movie by Academy Award-nominated composer Javier Navarrete (Pan’s Labyrinth). The soundtrack will be released on March 27, 2012 and is now available to order on Amazon. Check out audio clips from all tracks on the album below. Wrath of the Titans is directed by Jonathan Liebesman and stars Sam Worthington who is reprising his turn as Perseus from the 2010 box office hit Clash of the Titans. Three new movies are opening wide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the fantasy epic John Carter directed by Andrew Stanton and starring Taylor Kitsch, Willem Dafoe, Lynn Collins, Thomas Haden Church, Samantha Morton, Dominic West, Mark Strong, James Purefoy and Bryan Cranston. The film’s music is composed by Michael Giacchino. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening wide is the family comedy A Thousand Words directed by Brian Robbins and starring Eddie Murphy, Ariel Winter, Kerry Washington and Allison Janney. John Debney who previously worked with the director on the sci-fi comedy Meet Dave has written the score for the movie. No soundtrack album has been announced.
