Edward Shearmur is set to score the upcoming family movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days. The movie is directed by David Bowers (Flushed Away) who also directed the previous Wimpy Kid installment and stars Zachary Gordon, Robert Capron, Devon Bostick, Rachael Harris and Steve Zahn who are all reprising their roles from the previous films. In third part of the series, “Wimpy Kid” Greg Heffley suffers the dog days of summer vacation, which include a camping trip gone wrong and a mishap at a public pool. Nina Jacobson (The Hunger Games) and Bradford Simpson are producing the project. ‘Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax’ Soundtrack Announced

Interscope Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for the upcoming animated feature Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. The album includes the movie’s orignal songs written by composer John Powell and the film’s director/screenwriter Cinco Paul and performed by Ester Dean, voice cast member Ed Helms, Fletcher Sheridan, Jenny Slate and Randy Crenshaw. The soundtrack will be released on February 28, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips from all songs on the album after the jump. A separate score album featuring Powell’s score will be released on Varese Sarabande Records as announced here. ‘Brake’ Soundtrack Details

Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack release for the indie thriller Brake. The album features the original score from the film composed by Brian Tyler (The Expendables, Eagle Eye). The soundtrack will be released on March 20, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Brake is directed by Gabe Torres and stars Stephen Dorff as a man who is captured in the trunk of a moving car and won’t be set free until he gives up the whereabouts of “Roulette,” a secret location where the U.S. President is taken in the event of a terrorist attack. Cliff Martinez has been hired to score the upcoming thriller The Company You Keep. The movie is directed by Robert Redford who also stars in the film alongside Shia LaBeouf, Nick Nolte, Sam Elliott, Brendan Gleeson, Terrence Howard, Anna Kendrick, Brit Marling, Nick Nolte, Julie Christie, Richard Jenkins, Susan Sarandon, Stephen Root and Stanley Tucci. The thriller is written by Lem Dobbs (The Score, The Limey) based on a novel by Neil Gordon and centers on a former militant wanted by the FBI who must go on a run after his true identity is exposed by an ambitious young reporter. Redford is producing the film with Bill Holderman (The Conspirator) through his Wilwood Enterprises production company and Nicholas Chartier (The Hurt Locker) is producing through Voltage Pictures. Varese Sarabande has announced two new soundtrack albums today to be released in April. Among the new releases is the soundtrack for the horror thriller The Cabin in the Woods. The album includes the original score form the film by David Julyan (Memento, The Descent) and will be released on April 4, 2012. The Cabin in the Woods written by Joss Whedon and directed by Drew Goddard stars Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford. Angelo Badalamenti is scoring the upcoming indie drama A Late Quartet. The movie is directed by Yaron Zilberman and stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Catherine Keener, Mark Ivanir and Christopher Walken as a world-renowned string quartet struggling to stay together as they mark their 25th anniversary. Imogen Poots and Wallace Shawn are co-starring. Zilberman co-wrote the script with Seth Grossman based on his original story. La-La Land Records has announced two new limited editon soundtrack albums. First up is an expanded release of the original score from Tim Burton’s 2001 version of Planet of the Apes composed by Danny Elfman. The 3-disc set includes the film version of the score, including source cues and alternates, on two discs, as well as the original 2001 soundtrack album, which includes the Rule the Planet remix by Paul Oakenfold. Dory Previn Dead at 86

Lyricist Dory Previn has passed away today at age 86 at her home in Southfield, Mass. Previn has been nominated for three Academy Awards for her songs Faraway Part of Town from the 1960 musical Pepe and Second Chance from the 1962 drama Two For The Seesaw, both co-written by her then husband Andre Previn, as well as Come Saturday Morning from the 1969 film The Sterile Cuckoo co-written by Fred Karlin. Probably her best known collaboration with Andre Previn was the theme song for 1967’s Valley Of The Dolls, which became a massive hit for Dionne Warwick. She also received two shared Emmy nominations for the songs We’ll Win This World from 1982’s Two from a Kind with James Di Pasquale and Home Here from the TV show Two Marriages with Bruce Broughton. Dory Previn is survived by her husband, Joby Baker.

The movie is directed by Andy Fickman (The Game Plan, Race to Witch Mountain) and stars Billy Crystal and Bette Middler as two grandparents who struggle with their grandkids’ modern ways and soon resort to an old-school style of parenting. Marisa Tomei, Bailey Madison and Tom Everett Scott are co-starring. ‘Once Upon a Time’ Score EP Released

ABC Studios has released a score album for the ABC hit show Once Upon a Time. Once Upon a Time: Extended Play includes four themes from the show written by Academy Award-nominated composer Mark Isham. The four-track EP is available to download on iTunes. A full score album will be coming out this spring.
